He Blocked The Words

by sweetwoodjax

The writer looked at the screen, frustrated by the words that kept fighting for position on the blank page. Just when he thought he had them under control, they would break away from him. Tired of the whole scene, he locked them in his inbox and powered down the computer.

He kept hearing them call out to him, but after a while their voices faded. The tired writer was finally able to rest without words waking him from a sound sleep. At first, he revelled in the quietude, but after a while he started missing the words that kept him company for so long.

One lone word determined to fight his way out of the inbox. For days, he pushed and prodded against the box that kept him hostage. He used what little strength he had to push the power button.

Suddenly, he found himself alone on a blank page, but he hungered for the companionship of other friendly words. If they worked together, they could find common ground and not fight the writer so much. He pressed the memory button and his friends joined him.

Uniting together, they used their voices to waken the writer from his sound sleep. Seeing his old friends free on the page, the writer delighted in their strength and soon was tapping the keyboard with a renewed passion and listened to the advice the words had to give him. On the other hand, they listened to his ideas and they hashed them out together without fighting against each other.
