Memoir Poem
Hard Times
by dejohnsrld (Debbie)
Hard Times
Once vital and strong Until it all went wrong Twenty years ago Depression I came to know Need for medication And prolonged vacation Then everything made me sick Weight loss occurred quick Years of doctors and test after test Unable to do much but rest Diagnosed finally with celiac disease Diet controlled, I was pleased The new millennium brought with it Depression so severe I tried to quit Lengthy hospitalization Another prolonged vacation New meds finally found To get my feet back on the ground Two thousand and four the worst It seemed like I was cursed Car hit by a semi truck What a stroke of bad luck Permanent disability Was the result for me Now, I can't eat At times feel defeat Doctors and test after test Two surgeries proved useless Now I just want to know Where my life is going to go? |
