Sometimes I think old barns are like old people
Ode to an Old Barn

Ode to an Old Barn
Old barn standing on the hill What stories you could tell You used to be young and brand new All fresh paint and gleaming boards You served the farmer well Weathered the storms and hail Sheltered the horses and cows Let the children play in your hay Now, you stand abandoned and forgotten No more sounds of lowing cattle The wind howls through your rafters The barn owl takes flight Your boards are rotted and weak Your paint has faded and is bleak Yet you still stand to remind us of days gone by When you were needed and new and everyone was proud of you |
