Hannah Gets Lost

by sweetwoodjax

Hannah was five years old when she wandered out of her backyard to follow a butterfly that was dancing in the spring breeze. She gaily laughed as she skipped along with the butterfly.

She followed it to an open field about a mile away from her house. She sat down and cupped her hand to hold the butterfly as it lit on her fingers. Laughter filled the air as it flew up to kiss the baby soft cheeks and then flew away.

As she looked around, she didn't recognize her surroundings. She started to whimper and tears fell from her sky blue eyes. She wandered around and tried to find her way back home. The sky started to darken and she was filled with fear.

Over an hour went by and she was surrounded by darkness. She had cried herself to sleep. Suddenly, she heard her mother's voice calling for her and Hannah cried out for her mother. They held onto each other with tears streaming down their eyes and walked back home.
