Don't Soldiers Get This?
by Writingfundimension
Abandonment's Legacy:
Post Traumatic Stress My skin crawls when you press, "Why's your life a mess?" "Get a Grip, Get a Grasp." "Can't you see the danger's passed?" Not for me! All strangers wear masks. Fight or Flight, The reaction you incite, With intimacy you invite. You won't breach my defenses, Or escape the alertness of my senses, Despite your crafted kindness. Post Traumatic Stress Insures I won't be reckless, Or free of loneliness. |

Years of emotional abuse and early childhood abandonment have left a permanent mark. I struggle every day to make myself aware of how I'm shielding and protecting. Lots of days, I don't come even close. Thanks to Kevan for Other Side of Inside Out.
