a rondeau
In Troubled Times
by AlvinTEthington
see author's notes for form's description
In troubled times of wars and rapes and suicides, I seek relief from God in whom my soul abides--- As only God can comfort those who suffer now. Pure prayer and meditation work, I know not how; They are my certitude and, for my life, my guides. I cry out to the Lord in whom my soul confides; For God has stilled my mind when tides of fear collide With faith and hope and love, while through my life I plow In troubled times. I look upon the hills and vales of grand respite. In guidance from the Lord my psyche takes delight; For rest within my soul the Lord my God allows. Serenity and sustenance the Lord endows. Eventually all events will be made right In troubled times. |
