a grandfather's love
Grace's grampa (A railroad engineer)
by l.raven
came to us a tiny baby
precious as she could be
hair of red, eyes of gold was an angel for us to see she had a little tiny cry he could hardly stay away picked her up in his arms she won his heart that day to watch him hold her in his arms something you had to see then they played with her toys whoops! she just turned three ran through the door, right past me she didn't have much to say ran up the stairs into his room where's Grampa? I want to play loved to play the computer with him he'd show her how to start loved to play the games with her knew she was quite smart as time went by, she grew up their love just seemed to get stronger when it was time for her to go home he wished her time had been longer the day came fast that sadness fell his heart just came to rest how do you tell the little red head God only takes the best she knows he's here, she talks to him she knows he's always close by whenever a train runs down the track she always makes sure to say hi |

Grace's grandfather was nervous around kids. But when she came into his life. She won his heart. And he won hers. He was 54 when he passed, she was just turning 5.
I rewrote some of this poem. Made a few changes. Have wanted to fix it for awhile. He was on the railroad. The picture was the company he worked for. The IHB railroad. (Indiana Harbor Belt)
just written in words...
