Watch Over My Friends


Your prayers for me have meant so much
Now I wanna do the same for you
I asked God to watch over my friends
He said " There's nothing I'd rather do"

God, if they're sailing in rough waters
Please command their storm to cease
And if they're worried, confused, or afraid
May You wrap them in a blanket of peace

May the glory of Your heavenly light
Illuminate each step they take
And may You guide them gently back on track
Whenever they make a mistake

May You protect them with heavenly armor
Should they be attacked for doing what's right
For I know when You are on their side
There's no doubt they'll win the fight

If they lose someone they've loved so much
May they feel You holding their hand
Even though it makes no sense to them now
Please help them to understand

But if their sorrow seems too deep to reach
And their heart knows no end to the aching
May it comfort them to know that You're right there
Listening to their heart while it's breaking

May You bless them with Your assurance
That You will hear them whenever they call
When their footsteps are unsteady and they stumble
May You catch them whenever they fall

Dear God, before I say my closing amen
May I ask just one more request?
Return to my friends all they've given to me
For I am truly and richly blessed
