rays of sunshine for the heart

My Sunny Day

by sweetwoodjax

When day is done, and I've run a race,
I like to go to my happy place.

Lie on a swing beneath the tree
Curled up with a book to settle me.

My soul is soothed by written word,
Let the writer's voice be heard.

Babbling brooks and heroic knights
Take me on a fantasy flight.

Rugged cowboys that calm the land,
So many stories held in my hand.

Books are filled with heart and soul,
Written words that make me whole.

'Neath crumpled pages, I fall asleep
And into my dreams the stories seep.

A smile adorns my rested face
And I'm so grateful for my happy place.
