Tribute to Waylon Jennings

There's an Outlaw in Heaven tonight

by seewhatimwritingnow

A lot of tears are flowing
all across the land
Country Music
lost a real good man
The thirteenth of February
two thousand and two
wrapped in angel's wings...
Waylon flew.

You know, we grew up with his music
You know, he had a special style
I close my eyes
and I can see him now
Just knowing he's no longer with us
Lord, somehow it don't seem right
Oh, there's an outlaw up in heaven

He sang about Hank Williams
and a brown-eyed handsome man
He always had a guitar in his hand
Oh, that long black flowing coat
and a black hat was his 'brand'
Lord, we're gonna miss
that 'outlaw' man

(repeat chorus)

Waylon Jennings how we miss you!
You've left an empty space
There's no one can ever
take your place
And we sure would like to thank you
for everything you are
Heaven just got
a brand-new star...

(repeat chorus)

This is the tribute I wrote in 2002 for Waylon Jennings- My favorite Country singer of whom I was a long time fan. The song is published- but no takers. Have a home-recording of it, if you'd like to hear it. Thanks, Betty
