Old Souls

by sweetwoodjax

He holds her hand as he reads a Psalm,
Her hand is limp beneath his palm.

His gentle voice reaches through
Like the sun touches the dew.

Prayers spoken through thinning lips
As from this world she slowly slips.

Fifty years of wedded bliss
Sadly all comes down to this.

He always called her his amazing Grace,
The sweetest smile is on her face.

She said, "I love you" and then was gone.
The angels came to take her home.

With trembling lips, he kissed his bride
And said, "I'll meet you on the other side."
