A Star is Dead

by babylonia

Pain pushes through Star's brain as if stabbed
She shields her eyes from the bright light.
It's all she can do to breathe.
"This pain is killing me."
Stumbling to the floor,
she grasps her head.
Fingers reach
a knife.
She cries out
as she plunges
it into her skull.
Feeling relief, she smiles.
Spirit eases into peace.
The pain is gone and she's happy.
Her family is heartbroken now.

They want the answers to her sick death.
What could take her away from them?
Doctors did an autopsy.
Shocking are the results.
Worms eating her brains.
