In an Emerald Fairyland
by adewpearl
In this emerald fairyland,
by a topaz and sapphire sea, there stands a castle in the sand made of seashells and mystery. Nobody knows how it was built in this emerald fairyland, but the glow of the towers' gilt, gives the hint of a wizard's hand. As the waves lap the silv'ry strand of the crystal and coral shore, in this emerald fairyland, secrets sleep on the ocean's floor. Not a mermaid or sylph will tell, not by edict or king's command, who cast the castle's magic spell in this emerald fairyland. |

The emerald is the birthstone of May, and my daughter, the birthday girl, is entranced by fairies. She is even adorned by fairy tattoos. :-) The poem is for her, along with my earlier lily of the valley poem, which is May's birth flower. I'd give her emeralds and hundreds of crystal vases filled with lilies of the valley, not to mention castles and fairy kingdoms if it were in my power. But for this year, at least, poems will have to do. :-)
