Contest Big Ten Poetry Prompt -- Use these words
Captain of the Ship

The magic land of enchantment beckons to one and all. The lure becomes an obsession, makes me giddy when it calls. I grab a pen and craft a line that will make the tale seem true. You shall see what it is like to sail the ocean blue. The Captain of the Zimbabwe sails, irregardless of clime. He loves the raging winds that blow, thinks wretched weather is sublime. He is tall, dark, and handsome, wears pants cut to the knee. All the mademoiselles in port fall victim to his plea. He dons a burgundy greatcoat, looks snappy in his gear. We ignore the fact his captain hat has kangaroo patches on each ear. After sailing about the Seven Seas he is hungry for some food. The cook serves spuds and mutton. And he raves, "Oh, this is good!" The night draws in, it is getting cold, so Captain shouts "Drop sail". And climbs into his double bunk. and dreams of porpoise and whale. |
