Free Verse: Spoken silence
Disconnected Connectedness
by Mrs. KT
What price pride, anger, and self-preservation?
<<<~~~>>> The situation - incomprehensible The pain - unfathomable The result - irreversible Once again, In the space of a pristine sunlit moment, That will define all of your moments Yet to come, Your world has been shattered With unspeakable turmoil And darkness It would be so easy. . . But I can't Part of me wants to. . . But I won't I could simply. . . No. This time I shall remain Silent Yet, across the miles, Upon a summer's sweet breeze, In the soft whisper of the night wind, I feel your sorrow, I embrace your grief, And I pray that somehow, In the midst of such indescribable despair, You will find Comfort, Strength, and Faith But I shall remain Silent Connected in Spirit Disconnected by Circumstances Because. . . The situation - incomprehensible The pain - unfathomable The result - irreversible <<<~~~>>> |

We are all connected by blood, by friendship, by life, even by technology. When that connectedness becomes disenfranchised or destroyed by anger, circumstance or choice, and tragedy intervenes, what then? Do we reach out to those who have committed injuries toward us and risk being injured again, or do we remain silent? diane kenel-truelove 6/24/08
