A Part of Me, For You

by Curt Mongold

Excerpt from my diary, in verse.
It's so hard to see with the sun in your eyes,
it's hard to believe after believing the lies.
I live with my choices, I live with mistakes,
broken and wounded yet still the world takes.

It's so hard to see when you know you are blind,
it's harder to search when there's nothing to find.
I rise from the canvas to start the next round,
Life's "haymaker right" puts me back on the ground.

Books that are empty, dreams that have faded,
make me a cynic, make me feel jaded.
I look at it clearly, my life unfulfilled,
the wounds I've inflicted, the blood I have spilled.

Danger I've danced with, Death is a flirt,
grinding my senses into the black dirt.
Still I get up and I come back for more,
abuse is a drug, and I am it's whore.
