Lethal Light

by Helvi2

Not a Contest Entry~ it intrigued me to see if I could write a poem based on Naughtie's

A metamorphosis takes place
When sunlight disappears
And evil spins a silver web
Upon the atmosphere

When human parts evaporate
And canine features bloom
To resurrect a fearsome beast
Personifying doom

This horrid curse arises from
The victims who survived
The ravished of the wild attack
Who lived instead of died

The innocent who ventured out
Without a single clue
Who pray they could reverse their steps
Erase the payment due

They never saw it coming when
It leaped for the attack
And blood spilled from the wounds it gave
And nothing held it back

The fight to live prevailed inside
To struggle and escape
But sadly life will cost them all
A grim and wretched fate

The person that they once had been
Will not regurgitate
As evil starts to race through veins
That won’t coagulate

It happens when the moon is full
Upon a silvery night
When fangs and fur and teeth preside
Beneath a lethal light

I have always bee a sci fi fan and I love horror stories as long as their not to gruesome. Freddy and the chain saw stories are not my cup of tea. I haven't seen any of them.
My poem is sort of a side dish to the "Hidden Beast Contest"
I'm not a writer. I'm a poet. I have always believed that poems can tell stories too, so I thought I would follow the rules in Naughties contest, but write it in poem form. The contest was writing about a werewolf but never using the word or any word related to it Poems are not allowed in ths contest, so this is NOT AN ENTRY. I am experimenting and wondering what you think of my version. It was inspired from "naughties idea."

This is not the typical kind of poem I write, but it intriqued me on what I was capable of achieving with the same premise.

I hope you enjoy my trip to the dark side.
The Force is still with me and I will continue to make you smile.

Turn out the lights and keep your ears open
