I begged him not to go...

Silken Silhouettes

by Dean Kuch

 I silently awaited his return,

and frigid fear turned flesh to brittle bone.

I wept of things from him I'll never learn;

his lust for adventure left me alone.

For naught were times we spent in warm embrace;

all shunned me, turned my broken dreams away.

I wept for true love I can ne'er replace;

a heartless maiden claimed his soul today.

Now briny seas calm, 'neath silk silhouettes,

are cast on moonlit waters weathered woe,

enraged, as if they too harbor regrets,

those throes he'd felt which bade he blindly go.

As cold fingers cling – clouding my last breath,

I now caress the sea, and him in death

Thank you for reading my meager attempt at writing yet another Shakespearean Sonnet.

Many thanks to Just2Write, Father Flaps, Honeycomb, and many others who have helped me in making this a much better sonnet than it was initially.

I do appreciate it.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
