An Abecedarian for Today

Creed for Modern Living

Always check your Facebook page twenty times per day.
Belly, Botox, buttocks, boobs all make a fine display.
Cannabis to crack cocaine's a fine trajectory.
Dabble round in dalliance; eschew monogamy.
Experiment with ecstasy; give crystal meth a try.
Forget the future, live the now; it's happier if you're high.
Games are gory; guns and guts, with violence glorified.
Hug and high five through the day - no chance should be denied.
In parties, pubs, in bars and clubs, drink up till you fall down;
Just remember rehab's costly and your friends can't call around.
Kiss and tell on Instagram, on Twitter or a blog -
Lucky lovers like to know you thought they were a dog.
Music must be loud of course and full of language foul;
Never mind the neighbours - seems that all they do is scowl.
Of morals, you can learn a lot from shows they call reality -
Provocative behaviour plus illusions of normality.
Question everything that stands for moderate sobriety.
Role models should be young and rich, of dubious propriety.
Social networks give you all the news of any value -
Tweets and tags and tit-bits - plenty more they have to tell you.
Unleash the apps on tablet or smart phone and laptop media;
Verify the lessons learned on Bing and Wikipedia.
Words take on new meaning with every hour that passes.
X-Ray vision's obsolete now you have Google Glasses.
Youth is all important; middle-age a concept dirty;
Zero tolerance applies to all who're over thirty.
