Love Poem Poetry Contest
At last
by kiwisteveh
When we first loved, my love, the flames
Raged hot with passion's torch. "Oi!" yelled my dad. "You quit them games! You'll wreck the flamin' porch." When we were wed, my love, the blaze Continued burning bright, 'Til neighbours cried, "Oi, end your ways! You're at it half the night!" When we were blessed, my love, with kids, Fruit of our hot desire, They'd interrupt our lust-fueled bids And douse the burning fire. Now we are old, my love, and gray, Inferno's cooled to embers. We both have time to love all day; Alas, no one remembers. |
