Stained Glassed Heart
by Mike K2
Poem, layout & design, and photography copyright 2012 by Michael W Kohlman, Baltimore MD.
The photograph of the stained glass, as well as the brickwork comes from Saint Ursula church. Picture is also Niki Barr from the Niki Barr Band.
There was a phrase I was exposed to, "I keep my heart behind closed doors." I had long wanted to do a poem to that effect, but didn't like the imagery as I didn't feel it conveyed what I wanted to say. It wasn't until recently a fellow member posted the poem, "senru-inside," which talked about keeping the tears of her heart behind stained glass. This was a eureka moment for me, because I realized from the outside, stained glass appears black and it also indicates a certain cherishing and protecting of one's own heart.
