"Christmas Poetry"

Chapter 1
A New Star

By Badger_29

The holy time that is right now,
and every Christmas  past
a festive, warm, and timely show
that always goes too fast!

Trifles, treats, and treasures
all around the tree
displayed in generous measures,
a pretty sight to see

Angelic voices, caroling
songs written for the day
Soft snow falling, heralding
The Boy birthed in the hay

The cattle softly lowing
a new Star shining bright
Its heavenly light showing:
mankind's new found delight

The vibrant vision, laid before
those present at the stable
a gift that's free, for rich and poor
for all those who are able:

to accept the best reward
that was never earned
offered from our faithful Lord,
a lesson to be learned

To be called are many
but chosen are a few
so always offer plenty
in everything you do

Perhaps some may feel differently
but they appear not wise
for it seems they do not see
that His love IS the prize

I know He wants to cherish
all who find His grace
that none should die and perish,
when we leave this earthly place

So, if you are reading,
preparing for your rest
know that we're all needing
to be truly blessed

Treat others as you would yourself
 and try not to grumble
for whosoever exalts himself
shall in the end, be humbled

Put your worries on a shelf,
your neighbor shan't be faulted
for he that humbleth himself
shall surely be exalted

Author Notes I would like to thank Linda Bickston for the heart warming sketch with the star in the background, I searched to find one that was perfect!
May you all enjoy a bright holiday season, and come to know the blessings that come when you accept the best gift ever.
Also thanks go out to Dr. Dip, Jumbo, Thal1959, Oatmeal, Pantygynt, ciliverde, and irishauthorme for the helpful advice. You have made a good poem into a great one, thanks~ Darren

Chapter 2
The Gift of Forever

By Badger_29

Can you feel the love

 H
e sends from
               above

Realize the wonder

  I
s it growing
           stronger?

Seeing our cost

 T
here on the cross

May we not sever

 A
 gift of forever

Sent on the wings of a
         Dove

Author Notes I would like to express my sincere appreciation to MoonWillow @ fanartreview .com for the spectacularly appropriate art, titled "Sent From Heaven". Just what I was looking for! Although it may look like a hummingbird, it is a dove for this purpose, and I refuse to change it, as it is perfect in appearance and title.

Thanks again to Thal for giving me some very helpful advice on making what I think is a good poem, into a great one. Thanks

I have utilized poetic license to balance this Acrostic poem. Basically we are all "severed" from eternal salvation until we accept the gift that He offers through His Son, who IS the reason for the season. I pray that you will all be blessed this holy season, as I have been blessed by Him and you. Darren ~

Chapter 3
Good Tidings

By Badger_29

A message of hope and cheer,
during this festive time
For 'tis the time of the year
to share a Yuletide rhyme

After all the shoppings done,
the wrapping and the cards,
all the calls to everyone,
wishing warm regards!

Now all is ready to go,
and it's time to rest
Time to change to SLOW,
and in slumber invest

And as we close our eyes
we pray for safe repose
His help to be wise,
and in His spirit, grow

The fragrant tree, so tall
glimmering in the light
Merry Christmas to all!
and to all a Good Night

Author Notes I want to thank Helvi2 for the consistently wonderful and appropriate art. It is always a great addition to OUR art.
I love getting enough experience that I can just sit and write for the fun of it, at the spur of the moment. Warm Holiday Greetings to all~

Chapter 4
Christmas 2017 / Remember the Wonder

By Badger_29

Do you remember the joy
for every girl and boy
early Christmas morning?

Eyes sparkling bright,
hard to sleep last night;
still stretching and yawning

The sense of expectation,
of this festive situation
"What's under the tree for me?"

The sound of children's laughter,
as they get what they are after
A joyful sight to see!

But as you grow taller-
this feeling gets smaller,
as we become adjusted

Conforming to society,
while trying also to be free;
and one who can be trusted

So as you learn and grow,
this seed you should sow
deep within your heart

Plant the grain of love, and
it will be nurtured from above,
if you will, but do your part-

To recall that youthful zest
and always do your best
 to rise above the tension

Exhibit a good attitude
be courteous, rather than rude
and your name will be mentioned

In a positive light
having done what is right
being confident, not frightened

For your life will be completed,
as obstacles are defeated;
and we become more enlightened

To concepts which are not seen,
and the spaces in between;
wherein lies the golden truth

Work hard, then unwind
and you will surely find
that innocence of youth

So this Christmas, when you rise,
open wide your eyes
and be uncomplicated

Realize His love,
which first came from above-
and you will be elated!

(Take my advice,
and read this twice-
for you will soon be belated)

Chapter 5
Christmas 2018 / Remember Innocence

By Badger_29

Author Note:"If you see with innocent eyes, everything is divine" Federico Fellini

~ ~ ~

Christmas time is here again,
in the air there is suspense!
Do you remember when
 all we knew was innocence?

For all there was a time
 not so long ago
If you search my rhyme,
 you will come to know

A brand new sense
of expectation,
as you rose
each and every day;
to everything,
there was celebration,
and a special, care-free way-

Of experiencing
this magical place
that makes us feel so elated
In this frantic, manic
human race,
then things get complicated

We live, learn, and realize-
so quickly becoming older!
Never forget
that you once saw through eyes-
that were
braver, brighter, and bolder

Alas, that innocence is gone,
for mankind's plight shed a tear~
Then when
Christmas day dawns,
let go of those fears!

And acknowledge the love
 for everyone-
from our Father above
when He sent His Son

To absolve us of our sinful plight,
and provide a simple way-
to do what is holy,
just and right
So
as you rise Christmas day-

Let your hearts be filled with joy,
as that innocence is relayed-
etched into the eyes
of girls and boys-
the true meaning of
Christmas Day

Chapter 6
2019 The Brightest Light

By Badger_29

Author Note:"It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light" Aristotle

Christmas Time has arrived again
closing my eyes, I remember when
We used to go caroling door-to-door-
they would always ask for more!

My father played his gifted guitar
I looked up to see a shining star
My brothers and I sang of  truth
with the exuberance of youth

Singing loudest was Bruce of nine,
clear young voice sharply defined
Shawn was seven and I had five years
Harmonious lessons; I learned
 to hear

Dressed alike in choral attire
made us a crisp, captivating choir
The line of our heads a pleasing slope
vocalizing of cheer, love and hope

To my heart this introduced and instilled
a wondrous desire to shape and fulfill
One of my life's many valued tasks
warmth of spreading cheer, I bask

As we sang with joy on our faces
reflections of the many graces
Bestowed on all this holiday season,
a gentle reminder of the real reason

That we celebrate the Royal birth-
One that fills our hearts with mirth
Ask, and ye shall surely receive,
if you would but choose to believe

If you are a friendly neighbor,
with others you will find favor-
For we must respect all beliefs
If with them we are to find relief

Give unto all with a cheerful heart
and many blessings, He will impart
Look, the snowflakes softly falling-
close your eyes, The Spirit calling

Celebrate the birth of The Boy
that came to fill our hearts with joy
He said "I come not to condemn,
but to give abundant life", to them

Who receive the greatest gift,
that clearly closed and sealed the rift
Between mankind and eternity,
que sera, sera; what will be, will be

If you are one, heed the calling
and be careful to not be falling
For one of lifes many deceptions,
so many contradictory misconceptions

Be simple, with old-school integrity,
and with your environment, be
Harmonious, helpful and kind
and we will be of a similar mind

Be truly grateful for this time,
as you read my restorative rhyme-
Do that which is noble, just and right
so that all may embrace
The Brightest Light
