"Alphabet Poems"

Prologue
Prologue

By Treischel

I've always desired to be a Poet
To shape and mold the awesome written word.
To shine! Succeed! Let the whole world know it.
To miss this moment would be so absurd.

I've sculpted this work based on ABC's.
The shortened format here is compelling .
The few pages here help to save some trees,
Need a dictionary to help your spelling.

There's help in some with a definition.
So any children can both read and learn
Adults don't need to read with suspicion
Why I put that there for them at their turn.

So lean back slowly in that easy chair
Sit back and enjoy each little ditty.
To overlook this eloquent affair,
Surely would be a serious, sad pity.

I hope you enjoy my little poems as much as I had fun writing them.

Thomas G Reischel

Author Notes This is the Prologue to my book collection of 10 Alphabet Poems. It is not one itself, but is meant to be a poetic lead in.
Enjoy! God Bless You All!

Chapter 1
Committed Fools

By Treischel

Always Believe

Committed Deeds Enacted Faithfully,

Given Happily, Involve Jubilation Kenetically Learned,

Minus Notions Often Presented Quite Rathfully.

Somehow,

This Useful View

Wrought Xenos Yearned

Zealots

Author Notes Sometimes Zealots can be Fools, but often new ideas and actions are resisted and hated.

Xenos - feared or hated
I took this photograph of a waterfountain in a yard along Summit Avenue, St. Paul, Mn.

By Treischel

A Burning Candle Devours

Energy Freely.

Glowing Haloed Images

Jumping

Kicking

Leaping,

Making Nebulous Objects Play.

Quickly Running Shadows Trace

Unnatural Visions.

Wakeless Xanadu Yields

Zaniness.

Author Notes Light Play

Nebulous - vague, cloudy, foggy
Xanadu - was the summer capital of Kublai Khan's Yuan Dynasty in China, before he decided to move the seat of his dynasty to the Jin Dynasty. The Venetian explorer Marco Polo is widely believed to have visited Xanadu in about 1275. His glowing description of it, created a romantic image that burned in the minds of future explorers and writers.
Zaniness - crazy, funny, erratic

This is an Alphabet Poem that I devised the format of, where every single word starts with a letter of the alphabet in alphabetical sequence. It's like an Abcedarian Poem except that, instead of sentences or lines of poetry, you can only use one word or letter of the alphabet, it is not an ABC Poem that only requires 4 lines to follow the Alphabet, it is truly a word/brain exercise. This book contains 10 of them.

This is a Night Photo that I took along the Mississippi River one evening of the Security Light of the St. Paul Yacht Club.

Chapter 4
Let Freedom Roll

By Treischel

America's Beautiful Constitution

Developed Elemental Freedom,

Quantified Revolution;

Sensitized Through Union

Viewed

With

Xenic Yankee Zealouscy.

Author Notes I spotted this bike in a parking lot in Pipestone Minnesota.
Snapped this photograph as I was leaving a Civil War re-enactment.

Juxtapositioned - set beside
Macro- evolution - I coined this word myself, meaning evolving governmental formation on a global scale.
Xenic - as of the introduction of pollen, fertilization (see Xenia)

Chapter 5
Confusion

By Treischel

Awareness Blooms Clearly

Despite Encroachment

From

Grudging, Hipocritical Icons

Jealously Keeping Lamentations,

Mirroring

Nefarious Observations.

So,

Xanthein Yellow Zigzags.

Author Notes

This is much like a Greenich Village coffee table discussion expounding nonsense.

Nefarious - evil
Xanthein - yellow pigment
There's a story here about the picture, which is actually a ruined photograph.

Joe Esler and I were on a photo safari down along the Mississippi River on the muddy beach just before the High Bridge. It was dark. There was about 4 feet of muddy, sandy shore and there was a bank with roots and thick woods. I had just started a timed shot of the Cathedral with Aperature 18, Speed 15 and ISO 200 when something large started swimming parallel with the shore about 2 feet out along the shore.. Not sure what it was. It could have been a musk rat, or a beaver, or an allegator, or a serpent....not sure. When it came even with us, it changed course towards us. Anyway, this is the result of grabbing the tripod while it was still capturing and jumping into the woods.

Chapter 6

By Treischel

All Babies Cry

Daddy Eats Fries

Girls Have Indigestion

Just Kissed Lime

Momma's Not Open

Poppa's Quite Rude

Sew Tommy's Underpants

Value Walter's X-rays

Yesterday's Zoo

Author Notes Just a bunch of Nonsense
I created this picture of me with my Grandson on a Camera App called PhotoBooth. Always fun to play around.

Chapter 7
Criminal Tendencies

By Treischel

Appeal Beauracracy,

Conceal Duplicity,

Every Failing Galaxy

Heal.

Ideal Justice Keeps Lasting,

Making Notorious Ordeal,

Passionate, Quixotic,

Real.

Steal, Take

Unique Vintage Wheels.

Xuding Youthful

Zeal

Author Notes Youth in their Rebellion can turn criminal if left unchecked.
When you rebel against authority, and think you know everything,
When you feel indestructible, Then you're superman. You can heal galaxies.
Bad things can result.

I took this wheel picture at a car show in Woodbury, Minnesota.

Chapter 8
Animal Traits

By Treischel

Animals bring Comfort

Dogs emit Fleas

Goats have it just Keen

Llamas make nice Overcoats

Porcupines quills raise sharp tips Up

Vultures wait Xerophilously

Yaks Zag

Author Notes Using the Alphabet for a bit of Nonsence about Animals.
Xerophilous - Capable of surviving in a hot, dry climate.
I took this photograph of these two American Black Vultures while on Vacation in August, 2012 at Blue Mounds State Park in Southwestern Minnesota.

Chapter 9
Blimp Odessey

By Treischel

Escaping From Gravity

Heavily Inflated,

Jealously Keeping Leaks

Minimized.

Newspapers Often Publicized

Quashed Rumors.

Sensationalize!

Unstopped Vapors Tragically Waft.

Xerox Yawing Zeppelin

Author Notes Newspapers ofter expose coverups that those in charge might choose to minimize. Like the leak in the Gulf that BP understated and where lives were lost. My Blimp story is a fantasy that could happen.
Xerox is to print a copy.
Yawing is badly leaning.

For Artwork I just downloaded a piece of Free Clipart from Microsoft.com

Chapter 10
Religious Freedom

By Treischel

America Brought Courageous Democracy,

Egalitarian Faith

Gaining Hope

In

Justice,

Keeping Limited Management Over

Non-violent Puritans,

Quakers,

Receiving Safe Theology

Unconstrained

Validating Wakened 'Xcess

Yankee Zeal

Author Notes Religious Freedom is available to all.
Puritans and Quakers are two early famous examples of religious groups that came here seeking freedom from religious oppression. There are many.
Egalitatian means - advocating full equality for all.
Wakened Xcess Zeal - Religious Freedom is Real, Halleluiah!
Had to utilize a little poetic license on the word excess. Hey ever hear of Xmas?

I took this photograph of a Protestant church on Dayton street in St. Paul. I titled it Holy Math. The sign reads: 1 Cross + 3 Nails = 4 Ever

Chapter 11

By Treischel

Yesteryears,

When very unusual times,
Settled rural quarrels,

Paying out necessary
Maleficent

Levies,

Keeping justice illicitly

Having gun fights

Ego duels

Causing bullet

Absolution.

Author Notes This was meant for the contest, but it was full, so I'm just posting it here.

Maleficent - harmful, evil
Levy - impose, tax, or wage
Absolution - foregiveness

This is a Reverse 24 Poem, a 24 word poem, using the alphabet sequentially backward, except x and z.

The picture is from Yahoo Images

Author Notes I was so enamored by the contest prompt to write a Reverse 24 poem, that I decided to write another Reverse Alphabet based poem, but leaving in the x and z, to achieve the complete 26 letter alphabet in reverse. 26 words. I did it in free verse format.

The picture is from Yahoo Images.

Chapter 13
Eagle Eye

By Treischel

Eagle Eyes
(An ABC Poem)

Eagle eyes, before it flies,
Fiercely focus on its prey,
Gripping talons, victim dies,
Harsh reality, dismay.
Razor raptor beak, shrill shriek.

Author Notes Eagles have such fierce eyes. What a magnificent bird!

This is an ABC Poem. ABC poetry is a short form of poetry. It is normally written to show feeling. It contains five lines. It may begin with any letter of the alphabet.
The next three lines must follow sequence. So if you start with the letter "G" the next line must start with the letter "H". The last line can begin with any letter of the alphabet.

This ABC poem has abab rhyme in first four lines, with inline rhyme in the fifth line.
Syllable clount 7.

The photograph is one taken by the author.
