Chapter 2
Perhaps

By smileycloud

Miracles happen every day, everywhere
They are not obscure secrets hidden from view
Perhaps we are blind and simply cannot see

Miracles speak an intriguing language
They converse with an open mind willing to translate
Perhaps we are deaf and cannot hear

Miracles touch people with a mysterious hand
They brush across our lives so gently
Perhaps we are frigid and cannot feel

Miracles have quite a distinct aroma
They waft under our nose on a meandering breeze
Perhaps we have a bug and cannot smell

Miracles are very sweet delightful treats
They paint our palette with golden syrup
Perhaps we are bitter and have lost our taste

Miracles invade our logic and defy comprehension
They probe the psyche and test the faith
Perhaps we are blessed and can come to our senses

Author Notes I would like to thank MoonWillow for an amazing and generous inspiring talent for "Sent from Heaven"
"Perhaps" is my entry in the free verse contest
Perhaps in order to truly appreciate miracles,
we need to have all our senses actively engaged

Chapter 3
Steadfast Conviction

By smileycloud

Will we not see
Can we not quell
The rife irresponsible modern-day trends

Where we live solely for this very crucial moment in time
Devoid of all good conscience
Without duty of care for the future of earth and man

Our blinkers are worn across passive reclusive eyes
Hoping to hide from dire fatalistic consequences
Which are pay-forward results due to our ignorant actions

Instead should we pray
That we still consider it quite fashionable
To pay homage and respect to the great gift of life

Clinging faithfully to the raft of morality and immortality
We could simply refuse to conform
By discarding our cruel destructive ways

There is nothing to be gained
By disregarding our brother our sister and friend
Or stomping around our planet in arrogant denial

When we perceive our lives
As one uninterrupted eternal span
Without beginning nor end

Our days will have a deeper meaning and a surer purpose
Our nights will be spent lying snug and warm in bed
With love faith hope and charity as our pillow friend

Author Notes Free verse
Faith poetry contest entry; I chose free verse but it is far removed from my best style of poetry;
but I guess free verse was my choice as this seems to stay in line with the concept of "free speech" "freedom from peer pressure" freedom of choice" and "freedom in God" to be able to make the decision for the future of ourselves and the coming generations and most importantly the freedom to be happy and content with good edifying relationships with our brothers and sisters
Thank you for reading
have a smiley day

Chapter 4
Solid Communication

By smileycloud

Solid communication
speaks the truth in a gentle way
devoid of guesswork and cryptic clues
scribbling out misunderstanding

Speaking in a divided language
Complex words spilling from the mouth
Alternate paths leading to obscure hidden thoughts
constructs a virus infected tower of hushed secrets
Twisted tales whispering in the wind
contaminating conscience'

A murky cloud descends upon the shoulders
dulling brilliant hues of glossy black and white
Gray areas
create shades of ill-feeling
Fiendish falsehoods
The foolish master of saving face

Deceptive puzzling mazes of interaction
Important pieces oft mislaid
Squares and rectangles bent out of shape
One careless incidental nudge
the cardboard scene scatters asunder
A messy array of destruction
trodden underfoot

Tangled communication cables
False information sent through crossed wires
Sparks mistrust and emotional discomfort
Relationships wither and die

Bridges crash into swirling currents
Obstructive debris sinks ships lost in the fog
Vast ascending chasm's spanned by
rickety matchstick frameworks
do not bear the weight of reconcilliation
The chains of communication are broken
replaced with the shackles of fraudulent schemes

Do not be fooled my friend
That which dwells beneath the surface
can clearly be defined by the eye of a discerning heart
disclosing the intention of deceit
masquerading as diplomacy

Respect for the truth is respect for the man

Coat the tongue with sticky sweet honey
snare the unsuspecting bug

Purse the lips in softly served truthfulness
capture the heart and soul of humanity

Chapter 6
Morning Refreshment

By smileycloud

An inflated moon in a celestial race

Forging an escape to yonder horizon

Erstwhile the dawn scatters abroad

The Heavenly feast of morning glory

A distinct circumscribed silhouette

A framework of fantasy to behold

Fevered emotion anticipates the promise

Of the crisp freshness of crystalline dew

A taste of this silver mellifluous drug

Re-creates a hunger and thirst on the pallette

Dissipating the darkness that garrottes the bud of youth

When the eye of a child discerns the magical show

Captivating Divine wonders defy belief

Author Notes
The contest prompt requires these ten words to be used in a poem

race, escape, morning, distinct, fantasy, emotion, drug, darkness, child, belief

This waterfall image was taken by us on our holiday from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour

Chapter 7
Alias

By smileycloud

Author Note:Snowy actually answers to all his alias'

"Snowy" was a timid little white kitty
Prancing playfully across the desk
At the local veterinary clinic
No one wanted him it seemed
My husband very smartly caught his attention
The pair soon became totally inseparable

"Whitebit" was definitely his first alias
My daughter saying he was such a little bit
All that was darkly colored in the house
  Quickly turned quite whitely marred
The first time we emptied the vacuums' dust-bag
Our hearts raced in panic
thinking we had sucked up the entire cat

"Hairbit" was a very apt label
As the sun came streaming in the windows
This four-legged ball of hair
would prowl through each room
In the shining beams could clearly be seen
An enormous floating cloud
Of snow flakes dancing in the breeze

"Dirtbit" suited him quite well as a name
He'd leave the house
like a clean bleached mop
Returning moments later
like a dirty grease-rag
Mottled gray and black with oil and dust
Pretty pastel colored bed sheets turning
A much darker shade of pale

"Scarebit" was quite skittish
for a well-loved pet
Dropping a dish or rattling a pan
Would send him scurrying under the couch
Shake or open a plastic bag
He'd be out the door like a speeding bullet
Peeping shyly around corners
when sneaking in to sleep and molt

"Rarebit" was a name given to him quite by chance
Visitors came knocking at the door one day
as they passed the little white bit
snuggled on the lounge
Said they were very surprised
we now had a rabbit
He simply lifted his tiny head
and stretched to knead the fabric
Breathing out his squeaky little purr
that earned him the name "Little Mouse"

Author Notes My free verse poem contest entry and the photograph is all about our little cat, Snowy four-legs as opposed to my husband's best friend, Snowy two-legs

Chapter 8
Twinship

By smileycloud

Author Note:When we are one-eyed, have tunnel vision and are single-minded we miss the very essense of the enlightenment we could apperceive.

Obtain a ticket on the innovation train
Discover the land of transparent wonders
Disembark at the station of visual and audio excellence
Cloak the quintessence in an atmosphere of insightful cognizance
Descry many miraculous and incredulous facets of knowledge
Give permission for them to manifest in the mind's eye
Rehearse the prophecies
Convey the message
Revel in the phenomenon of a life appeased

Look below the surface
Peer through the eyes alone and be turbid;
see merely the superficies
or perhaps
Dare to discover with the intrepidity of the mind;
assuredly perceive

Listen in awe to the marvels portrayed
Lend a vapid ear solely to the sounds;
hear a hollow refrain
or perhaps
Breathe the motif deep into the heart;
the intensity will exceed the roar of thunder

Feel the scenes with a scolding passion
Cruise on the wave of passiveness;
drown in the well of apathy
or perhaps
Bathe in the ambient temperatures of the milieu;
burn with zeal

Learn with a fervor that teeters on the brink of obsessiveness
Study the dismal text of the lessons;
discern nothing
or perhaps
Delve into the signification of the crux of the content;
swim in the mass of refinement

Understand with clarity and perception
Opine with tepid imaginativeness;
travel an obscure course
or perhaps
Comprehend through the open window of the intellect;
surf the realms of edification

Practice with a diligence that
propels beyond the restricting barriers

Customize the path with dissimulation;
walk the road of torpidity
or perhaps
Pave the cobbled stones with solid fortification;
soar above all sanctimoniousness

Teach with a bared soul
disseminating explosive fragments of transmission

Utter instruction with a prohibitive voice;
teach vacuity
or perhaps
Share wisdom by archetype;
exude advantageous intercourse

Live the abundant life;
Wear the crowning jewel of effectiveness
like a shroud

Author Notes The ideal may not always be the reality: Verity is not always consummate.

Chapter 9
A Salute To My Good Fortune

By smileycloud

Author Note:There is no calculator that can sum up the blessings bestowed by my sister upon all of our family

As my Sister, Gayle was born.
As my Companion, Friend, Ally, Sounding Board, Rebounding Punching Clown, Anchor, Mentor, Guide and Solid Rock she has grown.

She is empowered with the strength of an army when I feel small and when I cry.
She is the mighty charter of my course, shining brilliantly like the universal lights in every night sky.

Like the everlasting blanket of the sun's penetrating rays, she is the warmth and the illumination to my path whenever I am shivering from the consequences of being hopelessly lost.
The value of her wisdom flows freely from the ocean of her knowledge, understanding, compassion and empathy.
Most certainly not to any measure of detrament or cost.

Having a wonderful time and pigging-out on an overdose of laughter
with "MY SISTER" could not be simpler.
Even fleeting moments in her presence provides the kind of intoxication that leaves no hangover.

She is an unlimited source of inspiration to the mind.
The intents and purposes of her heart surpasses any that you could aspire to find.

She will move a mountain when one of her own is likely to be in strife.
She surely is my referdex of life.

Even beyond my imagination and comprehension
WITH ALL THAT I AM
WITH MY SISTER
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER...

United we stand.
So go ahead...Make my day
Because, come what may,
In comparison to my
"G"enius
"A"bove
"Y"our
"L"argest
"E"xpectations ...

ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND

For Everlasting Love

Author Notes Inspiration for this poem comes from an exquisite work of art living and breathing in human form
The power to survive all things can come wrapped in one exceptional package

Chapter 10
A Mother Cries

By smileycloud

a mother cries

her family unit
broken down

cry

several lives
shatter into
torn segments

cry

the reason
elusive in her mind
one factor or many
blame cannot repair
the damage

cry

the mother
bore the brunt
of the pain

cry

her heart still burns
like the fiery orange ball
of the scorching sun

cry

her life
shot to hell

cry

a saint
would crumble
under the weight
of this burden

cry

a deluge of tears
will not spare her
from the agony

still

she cries

Author Notes A Mother Cries is a free verse poem and is my entry in the following contest;
Write a poem that includes the following words:
family - cry - spare - heart - orange - factor - bore - shatter - saint - hell
Write a poem that uses at least nine of the ten words above. A word can be plural (so "cry" can be "cries"). But not changed. So "cry" can be "cried" but not "sob".
This contest is for poems of all types and for poets of all skill levels.

all caps are omitted on purpose; mainly to show how small and insignificant the character feels in comparison to her troubled existence

Chapter 11
The Gift

By smileycloud

Good Morning Father

Also to you My Son

You are very kind to Me Father
I wish to show
My appreciation
Is there something
I might do for You in return

A gift perhaps
to show My love for you

Son
A gift of love
might be beyond the scope of Your desire

Father
I have offered You a gift
This is My promise
You speak the words
You shall have it

Would You leave My Home
to roam upon the Earth
among the children
who have deserted Me

Yes
If I must
I will

Will You
honor respect and obey
the people who are chosen
to bear a Son

If You agree
with all they ask
Yes
I will

Will You love the precious babes
and bring them back with You
and lead them through My door

Yes
With tender loving arms
I will gather them up

Will You show them
what I look like

Yes
I will hold a mirror
up high
for them to see

Will You persist
if they beat You

Yes
I will trudge
through the bowels of hell
in order to deliver
My gift

Will You hang on a tree
and bleed

Yes
In pain
I will give My body to the world

Will You give them
Your heart
Your very soul

No
I will give it for them
but You cannot ask Me to give it to them
There is only One to whom
I will give My heart and soul

This gift is too hard for You
and for Me
My Son
They need Your heart and soul
to live
We will not speak of this again
You have been released from
Your promise

Yes Father
I will give it to them
I will bleed for them
I will hold them in my arms
and
I will bring them Home with Me

Will You weep over them

Yes Father
As I am weeping now

Then go My Son
Go now
while the time is right

Yes Father
One thing before I leave
Though I go from this place
our Heavenly Home
I shall not leave You
My Father
My God

Nor I Son

Then Father
As You wish
As is promised
It is done

Happy Christmas Father

Thank You My Son
and also to You

Author Notes I wonder;
Can we imagine the first Christmas being so sad
But with the happiest of ending's and all the never-ending's
Do we consider the enormity of our Lord's pain
in what He had to leave behind
in order to face His work on the Earth
and to fulfill the promise of the O.T.
by bringing us the N.T.
That we may celebrate in joy
Happy Christmas to all

Chapter 13
Hero Worship

By smileycloud

I have a place
He meets me there

I engross myself in His Books
He tells me an amazing story
I hang on His every Word
He whispers secrets in my ear
I shout and sing His praises and dance to mystical tunes
He lends me an entire backing chorus of Angels
I gasp in great gulps of anticipation
He says He will return and take me with Him
I take up my pen to write fan letters to my hero
He guides my hand and breathes out His inspiration

I am not worthy
He makes me so

Author Notes He is The Potter
I am the clay

Chapter 14
Bathing Beauties

By smileycloud

A Bearded Dragon
bathing in dappled sunlight

Beautifully bold

Clinging to rocks
like a baby on a mother's back

Cautiously comforting

Changing like a Chameleon
blending into the surroundings

Cunningly clever

Camouflaging to hide
from animals and humans alike

Seriously sad

Threat of harm and death
Will we never learn

Truly time

Author Notes My picture was taken by my husband and myself
on one of our day trips into Brisbane city
at The Southbank Parklands
What a wonderful experience it is to see these beautiful creatures in natural surroundings
thank you for reading
have a smiley day

Chapter 15
Unpredictable Circumstances of Life

By smileycloud

Unpredictable circumstances of life

             One man may eat caviar and drink champagne

Open door opportunity

             While another man
             may eat scraps from a rich man's table and drink stagnant water
                                                            Unfortunate circumstances

             But the man working at the sewage treatment plant
             cannot differentiate between these two men
                                                           All men are equal

Author Notes Write a free verse poem. This is a method of writing poetry, which does not essentially follow any structure or style. There is no fixed meter and no structure regarding rhyme and lines in each stanza.

Chapter 16
Yes

By smileycloud

yes
beauty is all around me in all its pure glory
 I truly give credit to the creation's painter
yes
beautiful voices speak of the eternal story
I will turn a rapt ear to the almighty author
yes

His hand reaches down
a tidal wave of passion
erupts in my soul
yes
I am pliant clay
He is the perfect sculptor
He moulds me
yes
He will change my life
give me hope and direction
be my Spirit guide
yes
He lifts me above
spiritual poverty
rich beyond my dreams
yes
finding my true home
the Lord God now calls me his child
I live in His love
yes
beauty is all around me in all its pure glory
I trust my creator and have faith in the painter
yes
beautiful voices speak of the eternal story
children of God and angels whisper it in my ear
YES

Chapter 17
Dressed to Kill

By smileycloud

A simple wardrobe railing
Upon there
Many delicate items might be hung
With all the temptation of frivolous robes and gowns
Or perhaps rows of the old and drab which lay limply closeted away

I might be thinking of playing dress-up
Or maybe bravery will inspire me to change
I whimsically think
What a delicious idea that seems
How very cheeky can one be?

My outer shell does feel rather tired and worn
Then again who might notice if I might change?
What first might they see when I do decide?
To be convinced to rearrange?

Would it be the colors that immediately draw attention?
Perhaps the drastically altered style would stand out most

If I wear slinky black will they think I am sinister
Perhaps with evil intent
Red is the shade of flamboyancy hot and spicy
That surely will ensure the gossip's tongues to wag
Too many rainbow highlights could get me a reputation
So flighty is she

Short and revealing you assuredly do not take home to mother
But could that be a dad or brother winking I'd see
Neck to knee
What a stern old maid she be

Oh
Which part of me does exhaustively sigh?
All these silky strands and ruffling bands
Just cladding for the bodily form
A housing for our skin and bones
Naked flesh needs covering after all they surmise

The body be the cladding for the heart is it not?
Heart is the mind's cloak
The mind is the instrument of the soul

Surely
It is far too long a journey from the wardrobe to the inner core
Is it not?

The soul
The essence of our being feeds the thoughts to our mind
The heart is inspired by our thoughts
The body follows the heart with anticipating glee

Could our dress interpret our true self?
Or does one dress to suit the interpretation of others?
It is not logical or fair to expect the interpreter to peer deep into the soul
through lashings of fabric and thread

Just what might be the true fabric of our nature?
Which color or style do they suppose speaks of the real you?
What horror if they are wrong
Or even color blind

After all it is a long highway to travel from the boutique to the soul
We could very well get lost on the way
Tangled up in silk stockings or velvet gloves
With nothing but a dress or a suit to guide us

And there goes our judgemental opinions
Astray
Lost forever in the courtroom of monetary justice
Superficial verdicts handed down by a shallow jury
All dressed to kill

Author Notes This poem is a fictional piece
highlighting the unfairness
of cruel rash judgements

Chapter 18
Don't Ask

By smileycloud

Tell me dear sister, why have you not gone to see father?

Don't ask.

Did you not hear me?
I did ask, just now.

Ok.
I feel it would be a futile journey.

Futile?
Our father is gravely ill and you dare to act like a spoilt petulant child.

Not spoiled.
Sensible in the name of self-preservation.
Now stop toying with my fragile emotions and
join your poor little sis in a drink

Can you not let go of the past for even an instant?
At least you should go and speak to him.
Say goodbye and make ammends before he dies.

Ammends?
HUH!

For God's sake, be reasonable for once in your damnable self-satisfying life.
For his sake and for your own blessed peace of mind.

You are the one who always knew what to say to him and
how to placate him, dear brother of mine.
You go back to the chambers and do just that.
Go.
Lavish him with your respect and admiration.

So could you have, many times, if you had even made half an effort.

Oh silly Roland.
I don't know what he wants to hear like you do.
Father only listened when people spoke the words he desired to hear.

The truth, Constance.
The goddam simple truth is all anyone wants to hear.
It has always been this way, you dance around the reality of the situation
and that just annoys the hell out of him.
Then you throw a tantrum and put on the "poor me" act.

That is so unfair, even you would never let me explain myself,
like he so sweetly does with you.
The very moment I spoke, he ranted and raved about "female ramblings",
and you would cower off like an insipid child who had been chastised.
He is a left over relic from the Ark.
He lives and breathes chauvinism.
And you!
You, revelling and basking in the light of being
the great and noble son who can do all things perfectly.
I tell you, Roland, it makes me sick to my stomach.

Stop this infernal nonsense and put your things together.
I will take you to him myself.
To our home.

Home?
Home to me is anywhere away from him.

That's a laugh.
If you really want to get to the crux of it.
You made your home among fancy useless good for nothings
who sponge off the illicit earnings of the dirty rich and infamous charlatans.

I hate you!
You, of all people, should have known the loathing and betrayal
I have suffered at his filthy hands.
Alright then you infernal pest.
You will now!
Here is your precious truth.
While you are marching up and down, turning my rug threadbare, like judge and jury, hear this!
I will give you the truth and it will make you squirm and shudder.
Couldn't just let me protect your visionless beastly little cocoon could you?

What the hell are you raving about?
You sound like a demented silly depressant.

Do I?
Yes!
And so I should be manic and frenzied!
You never looked beyond his slimy, nobler than Thou, sickening ways.
You could never comprehend his lecherous nauseating actions.

Stop these over dramatic pouts.
They won't work with me like they did with mother.

Don't you ever mention mother while thinking about that scum you call father.
That beautiful brave and protective woman is a
far superior angel than either of you scoundrels.
She would turn over in her grave to see the
whimpering "yes man" you have become to the devil himself.

Stop!
She is no angel in Heaven.
Taking a life is a sin, even if it is your own.
And you, like her, are simply a snivelling coward unwilling to face the realities of life.

Yes, you idiot, she did take her life but only after she secured my safety.

What manner of rot is this stupidity you are trying to give credence to?
No wonder father could never stand your company for more than
a few minutes at one time.
You are a pathetic loser, all smugly wrapped up
in your feigned coat of innocence.

Few minutes?
Few minutes?
I wish!
But regrettably it felt like an eternity.
Oh my God, you are the blindest most ignorant fool.
You see, my fatuous brother,
my mother threatened that glutton of a swine,
the very moment she discovered his evil incestuous deeds.
Maltreats the likes of Satan himself.
My darling wonderful mummy swore she would disclose his evilness,
and have him thrown before the merciless judgements of the jailers' hatchet.

Lies!
All lies you wicked spineless witch.
I will have you committed myself if you continue with this malicious charade.

LISTEN!
Mother wrote it all on paper, with damning evidence included in it's pages.
It has been securely locked away in a place known only to me.
I will!
I will bring this out in the stark light of day the very moment that
scum of the Earth dares to ever put his smutty paws upon my body again,
or anyone at all for that matter.
This would be breaking his pathetic cockroach crawling promise to my dear dead mother.

This is ludicrous.
Do you truly expect me to believe that mother would have let him
get away with such horrors of the flesh?

Such an innocent you are.
I almost feel sorry for you.
Almost!

No,
It is I who feels sorry for you Constance, you poor irrational eccentric child

Can you, Roland, even begin to comprehend the shameful degradation of a trial and a jury?
The public humiliation that would rest ever so damnably and heavy upon my shoulders,
and the disgrace to my own name?
Despite the fact that it was he who perpetrated these terrifying acts of fornication,
I would have been dragged through the fires of hell all over again,
if mother had carried out her threat.
She loved me far too deeply to put me through that dreadful trepidation.
She loved me more than she loathed him.

This cannot be real.
I would have seen.
I would know if he is some kind of despicable monster!

No Roland, all you see is his love for you,
and you would have been blinded to anything he ever did,
just to receive his acceptance and praise.

You cannot possibly believe that of me.

Evil men can manipulate those who love them to
walk faithfully and blindly in their footsteps,
believing they are Gods,
untouched by the mire of debauchery and immorality.

Should this be real.
If this is true.
This could not have happened!

Funny, that is the very words that have tormented my mind,
night after night, for many years.

Stop it!
I cannot be hearing this.

Poor bewildered Roland.
It is certainly not your fault.
You are not to blame.
My darling brother, you are simply a true and faithful son.

Please.
I beg of you Constance.
With God as your witness,
tell me this is not true.

I cannot purge myself of my truth.
I ask that you leave my house now Roland.
Preferably without another word between us.
It is I who begs you, to do that this very moment.

Please, please, please.
Stop tormenting me with this.
THIS TRAVESTY OF LIES!

Why have I not been to see father?
Don't ask!

Chapter 19
Inside Outside

By smileycloud

Look
Here I abide before you all around inside everywhere
Invisibility is very rare
Unlikely
Substance is obvious
Tangible
Mirrors are inside outside all above and even beyond our vision
Do you see me through the fog?
Are you listening above the din?
Who is aware?
Awake
Peeping futilely in all the wrong places
Eyes blinded by scorching glints of sun's glare
Feeling the knife of
Late and lonely nights
Staring blankly into darkness
Wondering
Melancholy musings
Stand up
Sit down
Step forward
Change direction before you run and hide
Fight the battles
Gaining ground to reach a destination many steps behind
Multitudes of obscure answers for so few feeble questions
Complexities dancing behind eyelids fluttering with doubt filled fears
Leave confusion to Einstein minds
Simplicity will guide the true heart
Be brave and expect victory
Seek me
Hunger and thirst to know me
Who am I?
I am you!
Look

Author Notes If only we were as simple as life itself could be

Chapter 21
Arrogance

By smileycloud

Arrogance
A taboo word
or perhaps an entity with substance
Have you heard
The dictionary says it is a noun
I approached the definition with a worrying frown
My hand trembling as I jotted it down

An offensive display of superiority or self-importance
Overbearing pride
One would think if a pompous person gave this a glance
They would surely shudder to allow it to describe
their demeanour or personality
One should not accept this calmly and happily
I would rather run and hide up a tree

Instead bravely onward with trepadition I proceeded
Although it obviously appeared that the dictionary
left the most important trait unheeded
DENIAL is definitely not reactionary
It is only when one owns up to and admits to their short comings
no matter what they might perceive as their defensible beginnings
can they begin to heal and grow and feel their heart rising

There are inner strengths which one will require
to rise above this affliction
Many are the traits one must desire
But to some they will resemble a contradiction
as some could already be displayed by a disturbingly arrogant individual
Might even look like an egotistical ritual
When something runs so deep it becomes habitual

Assertiveness to spare
Positivity to share
Self-confidence beyond compare
A high regard for one's own decision making flair
An awesome sense of-self worth to declare
We are all aware
these tools are exceptional medicine for our welfare

However
This is a very dangerous fallacy
As in an arrogant person these character benefits could well be a flaw
as arrogance tends to carry most things
too far too high and too extreme due to self-importance
Due to the fact that a large majority of people
who could definitely be labelled an arrogant person
for the most part would then puff up with their indignant self importance
and attack their accuser aggressively
assuming the stance of one who possesses such fine qualities
therefore further proving their denial
This brings us to the sad and sorry state of affairs
where any self assessment and follow up self improvement
is out of the question in the victims mind
Yes
I do say "victim"
as they are suffering from an extreme anti-social conceited egotism
which cannot be healed whilst they are self imprisoned
in a false sense of their own perfection
The magic pill or drug has not been mixed in the laboratory as yet
There are no magic cures
and certainly cannot be cured with medication or treated with science
When a loved one who is enveloped in this kind of environment
with a person who is very dear and near to them
the relationship can become fractured and the spirit of the person
suffering at the hands of an arrogant person
can easily be broken or to the extreme radically contrary end
take on similar aspects of the first persons nature
This negative bizarre scenario
is an extremely damaging plight for all living in their surrounding environment
A seriously high stressed atmosphere exists for family friends
acquaintances and work team members
The one way to show the people suffering from arrogance
is to not give in to their underlying controlling demands
by conforming to their self imposed wishes and desires
This however is a tediously tolerant testing long term system of belief trust and patience
which must be done in a calm respectful but firm manner at all times in all situations
If an even temperate interaction is not permanently maintained
then a volatile situation is ignited and spread even wider in the field
Untill the cure is invented
And while we flounder around in the dark
The main question which stands tall in the order of importance is

DO WE LOVE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE FALL OF COMMUNICATION
ARE WE STRONG ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND
THE FAILURES ON THE ROAD TO POSSIBLE SUCCESS
ARE WE SUFFICIENTLY INSIGHTFUL TO
RECOGNISE A STEP IN THE RIGHT OR WRONG DIRECTION
CAN WE WEAR PATIENCE AND TOLERANCE LIKE A CLOAK OF ARMOUR
WILL WE FLY THE FLAG OF UNITY DURING A RAGING STORM
THE ONLY ANSWER IS
YES

Chapter 22
The Four Companions

By smileycloud

MIND BOLDLY THINKS
HEART NAIVELY FEELS
BODY RASHLY ACTS
SOUL SWIFTLY FLEES

FOUR INTIMATE COMPANIONS

JOINED IN UNITY
NOT BY CHOICE
FORGED TOGETHER BY CHANCE AT BIRTH

CONFUSION REIGNS SUPREME
THE BATTLE RAGES AMONG THE FOUR
AS THEIR EGO'S FIGHT FOR SUPREMACY

AS THOUGHTS OF ENVY STRIFE AND LUST
RACE PERILOUSLY ALONG THE TRACKS OF THE MIND
FORGING A PATH OF DESTRUCTION

HEART DOES SUMMERSAULTS OF ANTICIPATION
AMONG THE TURMOIL OF THE EXTREME EMOTIONS
CATUPULTING LIKE CANNON BALLS THROUGH HOT PULSING VEINS

AN ACTIVELY RESPONSIVE BODY REJOICES AND BOLTS INTO ACTION
LIKE A PUPPET AT THE END OF THE STRINGS
CONTROLLED BY THE STRENGTH EMITTING FROM HEART AND MIND

THE OMNIPRESENT SOUL SHRINKS IN ALARM AND SHRIEKS WITH FEAR
AS THOSE THREE MANIPULATIVE FORCES BREAK IT'S PROTECTIVE SHELL
AND FORCIBLY COERSING SOUL TO MARCH FORTH INTO DANGER

SOUL CAN REVERSE THE HUMANLY NATURAL INSTICNTS
SHE CAN BE MEDIATOR BETWEEN THE THREE COMBATANTS
AND AN ENTIRE ARMY OF SPIRITUAL ALLIES

SOUL KNOCKS LOUDLY ON THE DOOR AND ENTERS CONFIDENTLY
ONCE INSIDE THE MIND SHE PLEADS WITH MIND TO REMEMBER
"I AM ALWAYS SO PROUD OF YOU
THE WAY YOU TRY SO HARD TO THINK OF OUR FATHER DAILY AND FOLLOW HIS TRUTH
I LOVE YOU IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES AND I NEVER JUDGE
I WAIT PATIENTLY FOR YOU AND I SEE YOU LOOKING MY WAY WITH LONGING
I GIVE YOU MY HAND I GIVE YOU MY WISDOM
LIKE A BLANKET I COVER YOU WITH MY COMPASSION
ALL THAT YOU CAN THINK AND ALL THAT YOU CAN SAY
ALL THAT IS GREAT AND MEANINGFUL
VALUABLE AND EVERLASTING
IS FORGED IN INDELIBLE INK IN YOUR HALLWAYS
FOR YOU TO PICK UP YOUR OWN PEN AND WRITE UPON YOUR PAGES"

SOUL SLIPS AWAY WITH A PRAYER
AND THANKFULNESS FOR THE POWER SHE WAS JUST GIVEN TO IMPART
AND TAKES HER TRULY RESPLENDANT GIFTED PLACE AT THE REALM OF THE FOUR

THE MESSAGE SENT FROM MIND TO HEART IS OVERWHELMING
HEART SKIPS A BEAT AND STILLS IT'S TREMULOUS VIBRATIONS
LISTENING FEELING AND BASKING IN THE AURA OF ENLIGHTENMENT

SHOCK WAVES OF INTIMATE PLEASURE ERUPTS THROUGH THE BODY
JOLTING IT TO A HALT AS HEART DEMANDS ATTENTION
THE BODY TURNS ABOUT TO VIEW THE FUTURE THROUGH THE WINDOW OF THE SOUL

LIKE ON A HUGE MOVIE SCREEN THE FOUR COMPANIONS VIEWED ANEW
LIFE ABUNDANTLY FULL TO THE BRIM WITH THE POWER OF UNITY
ARMED
SYNCHRONOUSLY IN MANNER FOR ALL TIME

MIND WISELY SPEAKS
HEART SOFTLY RELATES
BODY QUIETLY OBEYS
SOUL GENTLY RESTS

Chapter 23
Birthday Drear

By smileycloud

birthdays come and then they go
we live our life from go to woe
suddenly, birthdays do not come
then our life is truly done
as
little wifey sits at home
eats her dinner all alone
keeping those home fires burning
but for another, the hubby's yearning
so
we chop the wood
we're doing good
now, steady on, stoke the fire
oops, we slip into the funeral pyre
yet
turns out, the world tells lies
no one listens to howls and cries
down there is nothing, but nothing
so why the hell we bother stoking
go
get out there and create a raucous
before they get the chance to block us
show the bullies we're not weak
it's our turn to squawk and squeak
though
the all-time plan, we cannot beat
it wants to kick us off our feet
just let them think the system broke us
while on the target, full team focus
but
the other side sits back gloating
we all think they must be joking
in that hell the body fries
no one survives, everyone dies
now
dig, scratch, work and drown in the mire
up the ladder, another rung higher
drought, famine, flood
family, shelter, cladding and food
through
decades of heartbreak, learning
earth never stops turning
like a bloodless drone
controlled by a garden gnome
for
days, weeks and years have gone
we eventually all turn to stone
waiting for the final blow
that sends us up on high or down below
still
birthdays come and then they go
we live our life from go to woe
suddenly, birthdays do not come
then our life is truly done

Chapter 25
One Only Opportunity

By smileycloud

As children
Choices and decisions
we do not own
Those
who have our best interests at heart
deal out the cards

At an elderly age
clarity diminishes
Control over our days
weaken as time passes
Circumstances rule us

Mediators choose our path
Our lives
are once again
not ours alone

There is only
the little span
in the middle
where we have an opportunity
to truly live
An abundance
of happiness
on this Earth
our desire

Get it right and
build a strong structure
to connect the end dots
Catapult into the afterlife
to the cheering roars
of the happy people
you leave behind
to follow another time

Get it wrong
sink in despair on every high tide
Look back and shudder
Carnage
Broken lives

I am solely responsible
for my part in the middle

Blame
does not lie elsewhere
for my pitfalls

My triumphs
are my rewards
from on High

The people
The environment
around me
are not responsible
for my happiness
nor my
achievements or failures

I am responsible

All consequences
from my actions
All thoughts
all words
put out there
when returned
are mine to face

My life
A mirror image
of the person
who is me

It fills my days and nights
to be all thimgs to all people

There is not enough time
nor energy
to control
manipulate
other people
or
circumstances

My middle section
is mine
Your middle section
is yours

May we
make the the very most of it
we can

Together
let us each
own our own

Chapter 26
Inequity

By smileycloud

Author Note:Dedicated to the RSPCA who continually fight for justice

Define an ineffable act of disparity and attempt to merge it with a sense of rationality

One's consciousness would lose lucidity and wince at the discovery of the reality

Cowardly hiding beneath the facade of an incongruity devoid of all morality
The law demonstrations a lack of sagacity by harbouring a curious but bizarre absurdity

Affording improvident security to the abominable perpetrators who are guilty of animal cruelty

These scum of the earth should have been drowned at birth
Waste no time on their dearth of decency as each one holds no worth
These devil's spawn deserve to be objects of scorn
For such a spiny barbed thorn all compassion or mercy is totally worn

A time has arrived when common decency will abhor the weak and licentious law
Questioning the validity of the sore judicial system deep down at the decaying core
Sad is a society which dares to free the spineless worm who preys upon all the vulnerable and defenceless
Disregarding the heftiness of their mindlessness performing these acts of extreme contemptuousness

Before a just judge their guilt will not fade each one's pusillanimity will be weighed
Eventually justice will prevail and the arraigned shall not be unconstrained

It is a sure bet that the kitsch trash will personally pay if ever they harmed out pet

Author Notes RSPCA Australia
For all creatures great & small
https://www.rspca.org.au

It is my belief that people who abuse animals
are truly capable of and most probably will
abuse children, the elderly, the disabled
and anyone who is defenceless
against the strength of cowardice
and punishments regarding animal abuse
should equal that which is metered out for grievous bodily harm to humans
or in the case where the animal dies, the charge should be manslaughter/murder
and the maximum penalties handed down by judges and juries

Chapter 27
Fantasy

By smileycloud

Freedom of speech

A fanciful fallacy
A rumour started by those of us
who wander around talking to ourselves

Static interference

A broken connection between
two or more orators involved in an
uniquely active conversation

Mental deficiency

Hierarchy’s elucidatory justifications
rejecting mind’s communicative abilities
Judged as insanely off the grid

Proof of life

Concealment of evidences
Confusing oblique analysis in denial of feasibilities
belittling extraordinary potentials

Injurious diagnosis

Psychiatric intervention plotting against physic tendencies
Taboo interaction and isolation intensifying powerlessness
Assumed delusions smothered with tranquillisers ...

Destructive effects

Exceptionally expressive emotions and private languages
trampled into anonymity
by fearfully unethical smokescreens

Freedom of speech

A fanciful fallacy
A sacred endangered secret protected by those
who dare to whisper in clever secret resourceful languages

Chapter 28
The Power of Prayer

By smileycloud

Seeking another person's highest good
This is love

Personally experiencing the depth of one's feelings
This is compassion

Shouldering another's burdens
This is kindness

Being a child of God
This is a Heavenly privilege

Living a life as caretaker to His flock
This is an extreme honour

Love
This is an inimitable way of life

Compassion
This is a visibly touchable higher plain of existence

Kindness
This is a special all-embracing cloak of blessedness

My Prayer

Lord allow me to live my life as janitor and shield to Your flock
May I hunger and thirst for their very best of nourishment
Give me the heart to feel their pain and yearning
Install the strength in me to hear and see their woes and bear their cares
Lift me up upon Your shoulders to reside on that multifaceted mountain
Wrap me in Your sacred blanket of selfless power
May all I know live an uniquely blessed way of life in Jesus' name
Feed unyielding love through my veins
Sculpture my bones with kindness
Carve my flesh into masses of rations in empathy
Take me under Your wing as Your child
Make me contagious
Hold my hand as I spread the love disease
creating an almighty epidemic
of compassion and kindness
Help me to receive these talents from You
that I might pass them on

Author Notes This is a freestyle poetry contest about the subjects of:
Love, Compassion and Kindness and what it means for you.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Colossians 3:12
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved,
put on a heart of compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience;

1 Peter 3:8
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly,
kindhearted, and humble in spirit;

Zechariah 7:9
"Thus has the LORD of hosts said,
'Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother;

1 Corinthians 13:4 -
Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not;
charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Romans 12:10 - [Be] kindly affectioned one to another
with brotherly love;
in honour preferring one another;

Chapter 29
Mentors

By smileycloud

our ancestors predicted and feared
an abundance of universal ignorance
wondering
who is there in existence
exhibiting a yearning to truly heed and absorb
sound guidance and remedies from past generations
craving
valuable legacies meant to sustain the human race
treasuring
verbal provisions set in place as the shield of society and its wards

our ancestors predicted and feared
an abundance of universal ignorance
for
the temperate ways in family clemency
watchfulness and attentiveness to one's neighbours
a tranquil soul toward our earth and all it holds
modest respect of the oceans and their hordes
reverence to the heavens and the flocks of the skies

our ancestors predicted and feared
an abundance of universal ignorance
disregarding
damnable excuses and deceptions
in the
ruination of many species
blindness
condoning guzzlers obtaining affluence and prosperity
by
senseless surplus killing
far above the basics required to maintain ample wherewithal
pardoning
gluttony for indulgences of mere want and excessiveness

though our ancestors were wise to foresee
a shameful humiliation in universal ignorance
through
mortification there lies a bounty of solutions
in our own descendants which we must mentor
with the fortitude of wisdom and erudition
we shall
recall the merits instilled at the very core of our character
to serve and protect a future world
of fair and ample allotment for all

Chapter 30
A Perfect Flame

By smileycloud

No one can hold a candle to her

I love her perfectly as she does me
'tis no time that I care to remember
When we were not together

No one can hold a candle to her

She is purely breathtakingly beautiful
Soft flowing hair like a blanket of mink
Eyes like liquid pools of emerald jewels

No one can hold a candle to her

Her mesmerizing gaze is hypnotic
She possesses an ethereal quality
Devotion is her second name

No one can hold a candle to her

Pleasurable moans escape her lips
She spends all her time pleasing me
All my favourite things she loves to do

No one can hold a candle to her

Wherever I go she will follow
She loves to dine with me on my best loved foods
Deep under the covers she cuddles me

No one can hold a candle to her

Even if there comes a time I cannot remember
We will always be together my amazing cat and me
I love her purr-fectly as she does me

No one can hold a candle to her

Ethical Nutrients

By smileycloud

To maintain the body
one partakes of sustenance

Meat and veg
to our kids we pledge
We'll keep them healthy even wealthy and wise
if they don't eat too many pies or fatty fries

Lashings of rhyme here simply will not do
This is so meant to be a free verse poem for you

Could be a confusion in correctness

A dogmatic desire for erratic exactness

healthy body healthy life?
exercise
in the name of good health;-
ethics and integrity
take a good long walk in the park

Fish and their oils swimming through our veins
will keep the joints from seizing up
Calcium for bones teeth nails and hair
Iron for mental fortitude
Antioxidants will surely keep the arteries pumping
rich red blood through the heart
Sunshine or vitamin D which is it to be

Healthy mind body and heart
Which nutrients are attending to the soul
From deep within our thoughts
benevolent speech plays it's part
displaying one's intentions
Callous and cruel or caring and compassionate

The soul shall shine swathed in ethical behaviour
Integrity is an intense core value

Honesty is the food of honour
Mindfulness is the milk of morality
Dependability is the drink of dignity
A clear conscience is the cuisine of courteous conduct

Ethics are ethereal
Integrity is inestimable

Feed the body

Nurture the heart

Esteem the mind

Revere the soul

Live the values

"Could be a confusion in correctness"
"A dogmatic desire for erratic exactness"
What is the healthiest part of our body or our life?
Which part do we exercise the most?

Chapter 32
Dragon Games

By smileycloud

Fire breathing dragons
Feared by slaves and servants
Kings and queens lusting after their strength and power

Dragons flying high and swooping low
blazing trails over molten paths
extinct in our modern world

The dinosaur of the universe

Threats from above extinguished
Progression forges forth toward enlightened advancement

Oxen and donkeys bore the weight
of noisy cumbersome wheeled wagons
traversing the cobblestones
The people did not have to flee from searing breaths

Progress advanced

The romantic horse and buggy era
revealed a longing for grandeur and splendour
gentlemen in top hat and tails
escorting prim and proper ladies in all their finery
pretty lace and starched linens
were safe from snorts of fiery flames

Progress advanced

We saw steam trains which children called Puffing Billies
on the rails clickety click clickety click
The stench of smoke billowing
from burning hot coals in furnace pyres
a proverbial vision of our huge feisty flying lizards
way back in the distant past
the swoop swoop swoopity swoop
almost a myth of long ago

Progress truly did advance this time

Bicycle tricycle tandem and penny farthing
far more advanced and far removed
from the oxygen sucking monsters
running amok through our lungs
or flaming dragons wings
plummeting down in swift flight
and bounding up and away
playing their ruthless fiery games
leaving screams of horror on the ground below

Progress advanced
So they said

Wooden ships sailed the seas
All the way to fibreglass if you please
Look to the heavens
Silver birds trailing dragon s smoke across the skies

Nuclear weapon testing in the oceans
scaring the scales and fins clean off the fish
Chemical warfare permeating our water
Dusty film of microscopic waste particles
clothing our crops

Progress has eliminated
dragons plunging down to breathe fire
on the shepherd's herds

Like a relentless soldier
Progress marches on

Pursued by princes and rulers
Marvelled by people of purpose
The poor look up in awe

Rockets launching like cannon balls into space
resembling fire breathing dragons hanging upside down
escalating upward through the atmosphere
breathing out poisonous fire upon the earth

Progress has trudged and trampled across the centuries
Progress has plotted against itself
An enormous consortium of counter productiveness
thwarting its own achievements of
progressions intended goal;
defeating the purpose of progress itself
False dragons breathing out
fiery flames of self destruction

We have travelled full circle
back to the beginning of time

Fire breathing dragon time

Chapter 33
Seasons

By smileycloud

Summer disappearing over yonder horizon
fleeing from Autumn's crisp crackle
Sandy beaches blanketed by fluffy clouds dancing in sunny skies
scamper away to tumble over the edge of the earth
avoiding the shivers to alight upon another place

Winter sneaking around the globe from the other side of the sphere
peeping through Autumn leaves like a thief about to pillage
Making ready to furnish our days with frozen drapes
veiling our part of the world with baleful layers
Frozen fingers at the ready to give Autumn a final shove

Spring is in the faint distance of past and future both
Scents and perfumes of flowery fields still linger
tickling our senses with the promise of return
long after Autumn's chill has vanquished fond memories
we will long for the excitement and pizazz of a spring fair coming to town

Autumn stiffly starched and frostily vigorous in its approach
The snapping sounds of twigs and leaves
Whispers of heavy garments wrestling with debris around guarded ankles
ignite yearnings for cosy evening family dinners
Flickering flames dancing shadows on the drawn drapes from fires in the hearth

Chapter 34
Inner Light

By smileycloud

Mystical powers of the abstract kind
Optimistic discernments with a perceptive instinct
Truly attaching to faith in mystery
A rare gift to behold

Magnetize and cultivate
intuitive notions
Perplexing powers inspire premonitions
with an enchanting flair
for the unknown and unexpected

Floating faithless on the river of disbelief
earns disenchantment

Discard inhibitions
Cling faithfully to personal insights
surfing the ocean wave of abundance

Place a hand over your heart
Be very still
Enclose the cloak of peaceful quietness around you
Listen to the nothingness
Feel the beat
Believe beyond this space

Flick the light switch to ignite inner flames of faith
Send a mental invitation to the Master of faith
Trust what you see
Be willing to receive
the incredulous and miraculous

Life will be your witness to the
misty depths of faith absolute

Take your seat in the theatre of endless possibilities
Watch the scenes unfold on the
most impressive stage in existence

Your world
and all it holds
Your life
and all it will be
Your faith
and all it will bring
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Positive thinking and special intuitive powers of the abstract mind
is a rare and perplexing intuitivism to absorb and cultivate
A far deeper concept than simply speaking parrot fashion constructive words
These petty devices are not sufficient to make the inscrutable find
One needs instinctive attentiveness to be willing to freely activate
mystic powers without fighting tooth and nail or brandishing daggers and swords
Acceptance of an unusual ability is an enchanting gift
Allegiance to your own instincts and premonitions bring prodigious rewards
The best decisions are made when one listens to and feels their inclinations
If in ignorance one ignores them then one sets their future success adrift
Floating faithless on the river of disappointment never moving forwards
Cling to your own insights faithfully freeing yourself of all inhibitions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Faith and positive power of the mind intertwine and are interchangeable.
It is not magic, nor does it create magical situations.
It will however, bring great benefits to the way we look at our responses
to difficult circumstances, therefore altering our reactions.
It is usually in these reactions where events can toggle between
reasonably stressful, comfortably manageable, or drastically disastrous.
The clarity which exists in our new found state of mind,
will allow us to discern between what is fixable and what we must let go.
This in turn will be a learning curve in our growth of strength and power,
to deal with all things and all people in a more affirmative manner.
Faith in our own confidence can eliminate panic and confusion.
In managing the situations where negativity could reign, we are taking baby steps
toward turning our viewpoint and that of other people's completely full circle.
It will become evident that an inner contentment and happiness seeps into our
life and where we might have lost the battle in the past,
we suddenly can step up and forward and
even see a minute particle of the positive side to all things that face us,
and begin to see good in everyone we interact with.
Once we see the best, then the worst looks much smaller in comparison.
Smiles will come easier to our faces, giving comfort and security to those who depend on us.
This in turn lends to a very pleasant atmosphere
where all in our surroundings are able to be
content in all circumstances.
This is when we become student and teacher at the same time.
It is hard work, and a good measure of extreme self-imposed selflessness and to be on constant watch.
Eventually it will come with ease and will be a natural process to react in realistic,
strong and constant behavioural patterns.
We will feel the confidence in being in control of our own interactions
with people and circumstances in our lives, relying on the guidance source which
our faith has allowed us to tap into.

Chapter 35
A Beautiful Attitude

By smileycloud

Lord Jesus' children are never alone
For us, He left His perfect heavenly home
He walked among His people with devotion and understanding
Speaking the truth of the Word to come, written with the Father's blessing
The Master teaching tirelessly of the fruits of the Spirit
Followers by the thousands desperate to hear it
Throngs of hopeful disciples mourning their lost soul
Wailing in prayer to be made whole
Frantic with fervent desire to be touched by Jesus's mercy
They shall be satisfied, as the promise of a place in the Kingdom of God makes them hungry and thirsty
The Son shall know their name in the presence of the Father
Wherever the Lord Jesus leads they will follow and the multitudes shall gather
In the streets and on the hillside, hiding in the houses or cowering beneath their shrouds
Whenever He spoke, a hushed wonder would spread quickly through the crowds
There were eyes widened in awe at the promise of the coming of the new Kingdom
It was misinterpreted as a physical freedom
It was heard to be thought, the cruel Roman reign would end, and the dictatorial power lessened
Jesus tried to warn of the horrors and tyrannies to come, that their faith will be sorely threatened
They will surely see God's face, those who endure faithfully through the suffering
The Son shall rise and send the Spirit, and the Helper will bring their enemies to their knees, writhing
Blessed is the soul which exudes
The beautiful attitude of the Beatitudes

Blessings to all who
hunger and thirst after the Lord Jesus Christ

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My humble poem was inspired while reading
The Beatitudes
Matthew 5:1-12
1 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain,
and when he sat down his disciples came to him.
2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you
and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven,
for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.
The Beatitudes
Matthew 5:1-12
Chapter 37
Birthday Fever
By smileycloud
crawling hurts
my knees hurt
scratchy cold floor
big food rooms are so cool
tall cupboards and shiny tools
reaching them is hard
but soon I will be taller
and not knock so many down
to the ground
on my feet at last
all the time
i'm not tired
no nap for me now
running away from mummy is fun
the cat loves me chasing it
what a funny noise
that dumb dog makes
his tail got stuck under my foot
when he put it there
not my fault
tiny tiresome toddler
terrible two's
they can't mean me
next year
when I am three I get to
wear my joggers and
bounce on the trampoline
easy to eat the crackers
from the top shelf then
the chair is awfully wobbly
oops
ouch
muuuuumyyyyyy
it hurts
cool band-aid
little mice drawings on them
I like being up here in the tree
dad's rope swings so high
my school friends visit
playing in the yard
till dinner time is here
homework kind of sucks
but learning is ok I guess
so neat
those strappy sandals mum wears
eight is no way too young
I could get dressed up for town too
so unfair
can't wait for thirteen
going out with the girls in my class
leaving grade school
so hard to do
senior years just another stage
I feel so gawky
what is wrong with me?
oh
guys at the mall
so scrumptious
new car and college
boarding away from home
freedom is definitely the new kind of black
should have used my degree
but instead
hubby out all day and half the night
a nice little house
money money money
mortgage mortgage mortgage
station wagon in the garage
two kids at school
the twenties sure did rush in
way soon after the teens
wish I was three again
mummy
daddy
please
pick me up so I can reach the top shelf
I'm too tired to stretch
reaching higher is so hard to do
growing up is hard to do
Chapter 38
The Wrong Side of the Fence
By smileycloud
few might have much
many have little
is it all dependent on which side of the tracks?
can one rise up above poverty?
does the rich and famous
have the opportunity
to have a heart?
is it the person?
or geography?
circumstance or fate?
there seems to be an opposite
to every situation
under the sun
for every good
we might see an evil
one would sorely hope
for every bad
there is at the very least one good
or more?
to outweigh the bad
to balance the scales
one must
view the world
from a perspective of
arithmetic
do's don'ts and deeds
one third by three concepts
equals a whole
concepts actioned creates
a definite outcome
a serious chain of events
can follow the climax of a dramatic work or deed,
which serves as a finale to the chosen actions
a conclusion if you will
the outcome fights to resolve the conflict of choice
in deed we perform an act
let not those deeds
be ruled by the
do's and the don'ts
but by love
by the desire to resolve
actions desire and love
one third by three concepts
equals a whole
a definite outcome
a resolution
tear down the fences
build strong communities
sadness and despair
is no different
to riches and fame
all are the result of actions
compounding
reverberating through the universe
establishing "norms"
building high fences
segregation
by design or intent?
let us not stand on the fence
there is more sadness and despair
than there are
happy hearts
there might be more poor of spirit and possessions
than there is
contentment in wealth
do the math
the numbers are with us
we can win
Chapter 39
Jesus is Lord
By smileycloud
Author Note:One Lord One Father One Son One Spirit One mankind
when the Lord died for us
it was once for all
there must be a time coming
when man stops looking
for such greatness in other forms
that ladder is far too hard to climb
for false teachers
the unreachable star
the unattainable dream
the true crown
fits one only head
it is not a one size fits all headpiece
no other Saviour is peeping over the horizon
waiting to give us supreme gifts
real Christmas gifts
do not come in gaudy false packages
they come in swaddling cloths
treacherous lies can beguile and bedazzle
candy canes look mighty pretty
but to lean on a walking stick
quite fragile
is a precarious support indeed
heads must not be turned
by modern day
Sadducees and Pharisees
but
second hand goods
made new
by a superior Being
that is a gift to "live for"
One died
we all live
forever
life eternal
living free from guilt
spending time in prayer
all other conversations
pale in comparison
meditation for the soul
in a serene existence
without twisting the body into knots at yoga
mental images of a loving Father
impressions from the Holy Spirit
teachings from the Word of wisdom and solace
in the Holy of Holy places
a truly glorious Kingdom
paved with gold
here
precious gems
now
eternal life now
before the body perishes
in our world of freedom and choice
the first century Christians paved the way
so Jesus' freedom could move in our lives today
Jesus is Lord
discernment will enlighten our way
the Gifts of the Spirit will be our guide
worldly love seeks self-gratification
agape love seeks the recipient's highest good
romantic love seeks reciprocation
God's love seeks souls
worldly love requires greed
agape love requires tolerance
romantic love requires commitment
God's love requires acceptance
worldly love accrues sorrow
agape love accrues honor
romantic love accrues unity
God's love accrues life. Eternal
mind's vision of the soul's purpose
written on our blank pages
our heart's desires
contained in the book of our lives
interpreted by actions and deeds
imperfections and idiosyncrasies
our story told
shades of dark and light
color of our chosen world
struggle within
turbulence between right and wrong
points faithfully to a moral creator
the constant learning curve
minds purge hearts and transform hearts into living breathing souls
we exist to know there is a God
our existence proves there is a God
the patriarch of our family
Jesus is Lord
His love proves we abide with Him
no greater gift
Christmas gift
the gift of life life eternal
The Gospels refer often to the Sadducees and Pharisees, as Jesus was in constant conflict with them. The Sadducees and Pharisees comprised the ruling class of Israel. There are many similarities between the two groups but important differences between them as well.
The Sadducees: During the time of Christ and the New Testament era, the Sadducees were aristocrats. They tended to be wealthy and held powerful positions, including that of chief priests and high priest, and they held the majority of the 70 seats of the ruling council called the Sanhedrin. They worked hard to keep the peace by agreeing with the decisions of Rome (Israel at this time was under Roman control), and they seemed to be more concerned with politics than religion. Because they were accommodating to Rome and were the wealthy upper class, they did not relate well to the common man, nor did the common man hold them in high opinion. The common man related better to those who belonged to the party of the Pharisees. Though the Sadducees held the majority of seats in the Sanhedrin, history indicates that much of the time they had to go along with the ideas of the Pharisaic minority, because the Pharisees were popular with the masses.
Religiously, the Sadducees were more conservative in one main area of doctrine. The Pharisees gave oral tradition equal authority to the written Word of God, while the Sadducees considered only the written Word to be from God. The Sadducees preserved the authority of the written Word of God, especially the books of Moses (Genesis through Deuteronomy). While they could be commended for this, they definitely were not perfect in their doctrinal views. The following is a brief list of beliefs they held that contradict Scripture:
1. They were extremely self-sufficient to the point of denying God's involvement in everyday life.
2. They denied any resurrection of the dead (Matthew 22:23; Mark 12:18-27; Acts 23:8).
3. They denied any afterlife, holding that the soul perished at death, and therefore denying any penalty or reward after the earthly life.
4. They denied the existence of a spiritual world, i.e., angels and demons (Acts 23:8).
Because the Sadducees were more concerned with politics than religion, they were unconcerned with Jesus until they became afraid He might bring unwanted Roman attention. It was at this point that the Sadducees and Pharisees united and conspired to put Christ to death (John 11:48-50; Mark 14:53; 15:1). Other mentions of the Sadducees are found in Acts 4:1 and Acts 5:17, and the Sadducees are implicated in the death of James the brother of John in Acts 12:1-2. They are also connected to the death of James, the brother of Jesus, by the historian Josephus.
The Sadducees ceased to exist in A.D. 70. Since this party existed because of their political and priestly ties, when Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in A.D. 70, the Sadducees were also destroyed.
The Pharisees: In contrast to the Sadducees, the Pharisees were mostly middle-class businessmen, and therefore were in contact with the common man. The Pharisees were held in much higher esteem by the common man than the Sadducees. Though they were a minority in the Sanhedrin and held a minority number of positions as priests, they seemed to control the decision making of the Sanhedrin far more than the Sadducees did, again because they had the support of the people.
Religiously, they accepted the written Word as inspired by God. At the time of Christ's earthly ministry, this would have been what is now our Old Testament. But they also gave equal authority to oral tradition and attempted to defend this position by saying it went all the way back to Moses. Evolving over the centuries, these traditions added to God's Word, which is forbidden (Deuteronomy 4:2), and the Pharisees sought to strictly obey these traditions along with the Old Testament. The Gospels abound with examples of the Pharisees treating these traditions as equal to God's Word (Matthew 9:14; 15:1-9; 23:5; 23:16, 23, Mark 7:1-23; Luke 11:42). However, they did remain true to God's Word in reference to certain other important doctrines. In contrast to the Sadducees, they believed the following:
1. They believed that God controlled all things, yet decisions made by individuals also contributed to the course of a person's life.
2. They believed in the resurrection of the dead (Acts 23:6).
3. They believed in an afterlife, with appropriate reward and punishment on an individual basis.
4. They believed in the existence of angels and demons (Acts 23:8).
Though the Pharisees were rivals of the Sadducees, they managed to set aside their differences on one occasion at the trial of Christ. It was at this point that the Sadducees and Pharisees united to put Christ to death (Mark 14:53; 15:1; John 11:48-50).
While the Sadducees ceased to exist after the destruction of Jerusalem, the Pharisees, who were more concerned with religion than politics, continued to exist. In fact, the Pharisees were against the rebellion that brought on Jerusalem's destruction in A.D. 70, and they were the first to make peace with the Romans afterward. The Pharisees were also responsible for the compilation of the Mishnah, an important document with reference to the continuation of Judaism beyond the destruction of the temple.
Both the Pharisees and the Sadducees earned numerous rebukes from Jesus. Perhaps the best lesson we can learn from the Pharisees and Sadducees is to not be like them. Unlike the Sadducees, we are to believe everything the Bible says, including the miraculous and the afterlife. Unlike the Pharisees, we are not to treat traditions as having equal authority as Scripture, and we are not to allow our relationship with God to be reduced to a legalistic list of rules and rituals.
Chapter 40
Rushing Torrents
By smileycloud
Author Note:Thank you Teri 7 for establishing this club
one rushes to and fro
sometimes to no avail
a hustle
a bustle
time running out
the past tumbling over the cliff
a waterfall
memories and experiences
gushing into the river of life
treasures must be tightly secured
lest they drown in the torrents of life
the past is our wisdom
the future is our here and now in motion
as the year rolls away
we dump the refuse into the rejection bin
we collect the valuable insights
pass through the gates of midnight
wake to a new dawning
on the morning of the first day of our life
yesterday
today
tomorrow
belongs to the Lord
I am thankful He shares it with me
and I look forward to His tomorrow
Infinite Time
By smileycloud
Author Note:Rhymed free verse style Spiritual musings about aging
the cogs of the wheel
unceremoniously go round and round
waiting for a valuable lesson to be found
rickety old track clickety clack
old master time will surely break our back
till with the devil old age is tempted to make a slippery deal
we'd give anything not to feel
the havoc pain wreaks in the joints
when the index finger no longer points
the racket of the squeaks and creaks
while the bladder dribbles and leaks
what about the skin resembling an orange peel
to all kind of doctors we appeal
popping pills and potions
listening to all the weird notions
drinking every strange and bitter tea
then marvel quizzically at the colour of our pee
still it remains impossible to squat or kneel
but kneel we shall and not conceal
it is in the Lord we trust
and remember the body will only be dust
resist enticement from that old con man devil
bury the vanities with a huge solid shovel
and age gracefully with purpose and zeal
stopping the clock sounds ideal
until we visualize forever on this earth
rejecting our God given spiritual rebirth
apply for a brand new birth certificate
Father Son and Holy Spirit in triplicate
stamped with God's own quality seal
Chapter 43
Happy Birthday
By smileycloud
Happy birthday Lord
The gifts I offer you
for Your birthday
pale in significance
in comparison
to your supreme gift to mankind
and to all of creation
I  have confidence in You when You say
You have made me worthy of forgiveness
My gift is belief
I greedily grasp Your invitation
to enter through Your open door
My gift is acceptance
I have hope that You will say You know me
when I come before our Father
My gift is trust
I meditate on Your Word
to learn the way of the truth
My gift is obedience
I wait patiently in awe
for the Holy Spirit to fill me
My gift is communication
I pray to our Father
in Your name
My gift is gratitude
I tell many people
about the precious child
My gift is discipleship
I pray desperately
to always know You
My gift is loyalty
I open my heart
My gift is love
I do love You Lord
Please help me deliver my gifts faithfully
Home and Family
By smileycloud
Author Note:A never ending line of family members
The universe as we view it
All the beauty of this great expanse
God's playground
Every beast in the animal kingdom
Magnificent regal creatures
His friends
The carpet like mass of nature
Splendid lush vegetation
His bed linen
The endless dome of azure crown
That indiscernible realm
His home
Ardent yearnings and supplications
Fervent effervescent prayer
His food
Prodigal sons returning home
Preparation of the fatted calf
His pleasure
Ragamuffin mankind
Auspicious us
His children
Chapter 46
To Cherish or To Perish
By smileycloud
Author Note:Lest we be slaves to the grave
Dead is not always dead
Open the door to the phenomenon of life
Start living the dream
oh
Cherish the thought
Following the One and only
To eternal life
Or not
Though lost
The body putrid in the ground
The decaying brain like silt through a sift
The soul rotting in the mire
oh
Perish the thought
Buried in the tomblike grave
Done and dusted
Without a hope to our name
Or not
Perhaps fortified
A home full of love
A mind streaming happiness
A heart oozing compassion
Seeking the ever after
Forevermore
Living the afterlife
Nourish the thought
A seat at the right hand of the Father
Prepared for us by the Son of God
