If I Were in Charge of the World

The topic for this contest is: If I were in Charge of the World...

Imagine if one day you were the absolute ruler of the Earth and had ten years to solve the world?s problems; what would you do, how would you do it and why would choose that particular problem to focus on? Pick only five problems to solve. Think big picture, but within existing technology, no magical waving of wands! Imagine that your ideas would be sent to policymakers as concrete calls for action.
For example,

If I were in charge of the world, I would start by focusing on solving the energy problems facing the world, as solving the energy problem would also help solve the climate change problem, and help solve the massive unemployment problems that will happen soon with the growth of AI and robotics. I would solve the world?s energy problems by mandating a shift to 100 percent renewable energy in ten years, with massive investments in bio diesel, geothermal, (hydro particularly mini-hydro) nuclear, solar, tidal, waste to energy systems, and wind projects, smart electric grid modernization, as well as smart growth policies, moving towards all-electric vehicles, massive investment in high-speed trains and mass transit, moving towards sustainable agriculture including urban farming. This would include putting solar panels, mini wind turbines, and water harvesting systems on top of every big building, making big buildings 100 percent self-sufficient in energy production and producing excess power to sell back to the greater grid.

Prose or poetry. 1,000 words max for prose and 60 lines for poetry.

Write a story that addresses the question directly, what would you do to solve the world's problems? Creative approaches are welcomed, but the proposals must be concrete and achievable using existing technologies.
