Forza Rima
Poetry Contest
Purple? Orange? Month? Any word can be rhymed if you don't limit yourself to the dictionary.
Ogden Nash made a career of it, rhyming "democracy" with "streptoccocacy" and, after telling his wife that he can only be happy where she is, he adds "Likewise I have never larnt / How to be it where you aren't".
I know what you're thinking, "Forza Rima"? what a brilliantly clever title! There is no way you came up with that on your own. Well, you're right. The term was coined by our own Pantygynt - the man whose reviews are better than most folks' poems (not yours, of course - other "most folks").
So the rule is simply to write a poem using some imaginative and original forced rhymes - wedge 'em in there like a size 8 foot into a size 5 shoe.
They don't all have to be forced of coursed, but at least throw in a few of them (perhaps under a pseudonym?). As for stanzas, my stance is, no minimum or maximum, if folks do what I ask of 'em, it will be simple and easy (and hopefully cheesy).
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 60.00 member dollars. There are 6 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Saturday, October 15, 2016.
