Write a Haiku
Poetry Contest
The topic of the prompt is to write a single Haiku.
This is the brilliant definition of a Haiku by Ray (mountainwriter49):
Haiku is a Japanese short poetic form focusing on a direct observation. While the form has many rules, several of the key ones are as follows: must not personify nature; captures an observable moment in time and not something the poet imagines is happening; written in present tense and utilizes minimal capitalization and punctuation; follows a short-long-short line format utilizing 17 or fewer syllables; two lines are grammatically connected and the third line serves as an ah-ha moment, or satori.
And this an example of a Haiku that Ray (mountainwritet49) graciously consented to share with us:
haiku (wild flame azaleas):
wild flame azaleas
ablaze along water's edge
spring's fiery bouquet

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 60.00 member dollars. There are 6 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Thursday, June 16, 2016.
