New Pulp Fiction
Pulp fiction is back. Write a new tale based on the traditional pulp genres of Science Fiction (NOT fantasy), 'Swords & Sandals', Detective Stories, and stories of the weird and unexplained. Horror elements are welcome, but only as they pertain to the genres described above.
Using characters such as Conan, Tarzan, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, and Dick Tracy as benchmarks, create new, original stories that would fit with era of story telling. In the spirit of these works, the entries can be episodic in nature. You can drop us straight into the action with a brief "Previously" prior to the main body of work; you can also leave it on a cliff hanger ending if you so desire. Your entry must contain some form of physical action and terse language, but above all it must maintain a sense of fun and adventure.
Minimum 750 words
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 40.00 member dollars. There are 10 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
