This Shade of Blue
Poetry Contest
IN HONOR OF I AM CAT
This was inspired by the remarkable poem written by our very talented I Am Cat named "This Shade of Blue" which has recently won a contest which theme was to write a poem in iambic monometer ("Looks Easy But It's Not" was the name of the contest - and iambic monometer is a tough one). I was utterly impressed by this poem and its phenomenal artistic presentation in blue, and asked Cat if I could create a contest with the corresponding theme and cite her poem an example. She graciously consented.
The topic of the contest is Love's Bittersweet Memories .
Write a poem of any style, rhymed or free verse, any poetic form you choose on a topic, minimum of three stanzas.
All poems must have a blue background

I searched
the halls
for signs
of you...
your soft
caress...
your eyes
of blue.
I reached
through time
to find
you, dear...
but you're
the one
who left
me here.
I thought
we had
it all,
and yet,
it seems
there's more
we can't
forget...
I'm still
the one
who cries
for you
and still
I stay
this shade
of blue.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 85.00 member dollars. There are only 1 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Saturday, February 27, 2016.
