Shakespearean Blank Verse Rewrite

Poetry Contest

Write a SYNOPSIS of a modern play, novel, or movie rewriting the CONTENT and STYLE of the story to simulate what Shakespeare might have written if he had written the original script. Write it in blank verse. Normally, this should use iambic pentameter, and have no end rhymes or internal rhymes. HOWEVER, due to the nature of the modern story, slight variations in meter, occasional end rhyme and internal rhyme will be permitted, especially as it pertains to names of characters or places where rhyme cannot be avoided. The emphasis should be on the story, rather than the form. Those who wish to adhere to a strict form may do so.
The maximum length is 20 lines for the synopsis. Up to 12 extra lines of commentary, narration, and or epilogue will be permitted. An optional list of characters to aid in understanding is encouraged. Strict rules do not apply to any of these extra items.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 14.00 member dollars. There are 16 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 126.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Saturday, July 25, 2015.
