Tambour

Poetry Contest
''Tambour'' = French for drum.

The reason for the title is the fact that the rhythm of the parade drum is incorporated in the poem. If one can visualize a parade walking by and the sound of the drums as they march through. The poetry is set to mimic the sound and roll of the drums.

Important!
It is crucial you look at the two examples of its form in order to create your own.

Examples. '' The Brightest Pearl Is She'' - chapter 19 of my book -''The Different faces of Love''
And '' Oh Wild Forest Wild'' Chapter 16 of the same book

.By all means, use both examples to implement your own.

If you decide to take this challenge you can inbox me a private message, if you so wish, and I will send a very important paragraph concerning;

1) 'PACE' LINE= offers speed and an injection of emotion, intense or soft.

2) 'COMMAND' LINE = directs an order or a wish for a special action, strong or soft.

3) 'DRUM ROLL' LINE = creates that special rhythm in answer or in influence to the line before.

These are fundamental to the ''Tambour'' and without using them it is nearly impossible to create it. The paragraph I send will help considerably.

I hope you great authors' out there will give it a go. It would be great to see some good results.

A further 30 dollars will be added to the overall prize money received from entries, from me, as an added incentive with this challenging write.

''The Tambour''

Rules

3 stanzas of 10 lines

The line below must rhyme with the one above (once only) replicating the couplet.

One double lined refrain after the first and second stanzas with the all important four lined, concluding, refrain after the third stanza
(This should emit strong emotion that reflects back to your poem)

The poem should be vibrant, and move at a reasonable pace; mimicking the sound of the drum roll of a parade; almost song-like. Whether depicting love, life, anger, tragedy, nature, or passion, the key is vibrancy and characterization. There must be a defined conclusion that stirs the emotions; whether happy or sad. The third and final stanza may have a slower rhythm to depict stronger emotions if you so wish.

Good Luck.
