Man: Language Of The Paradox

by easyeverett1

The language of the paradox;
"Make war to wrestle peace from strife"
Is culture buried in a box
That leaves all logic out of life.

The gods of light and land and sea
Along with thunder from the skies,
Belong to ancient history-
Abstractions seen through simple eyes.

The polytheocratic sine
Became a singularity
Of one creation truth divine,
Yet shrouded still in mystery.

From many - to the few - then one,
Evolving as the riddles fell.
And with the final riddle done,
Will God survive the truth we tell?

Man's nature seems to contradict
His own beliefs that are maintained,
Though facts are found that interdict;
Belief and faith are still sustained.

Another paradox of man
Is found when truth confronts belief
And faith remains man's strident stand
As faith conflicts with faith in grief.

So many wars have now been fought
By true believers everywhere;
Conversion was the price they wrought
And slaughter is the shame they bare.

All cultural religions name
Enlightened revelations made
By prophets given special claim
To absolutes that never fade.

The leper was accursed by all
For sins their open wounds revealed.
And then from grace did lepers fall,
Their sin no longer was concealed.

The epileptic in a trance,
Possessed by demons out of hell?
Or just a man without a chance;
His suffering no priest could quell.

Yet still today we fight this fight,
The Muslim, Christian, Jew parade;
For each believes his God is right,
And for belief his rights are made.
