You have named some incredible people here, Nomi, all should be honoured and remembered for their sacrifices to bring out the truth. As you say there are many more who decided enough was enough and fought for freedom and choice. They all followed God's law. Well done, my friend. I loved the tributes you've given these amazing people. :)) Sandra xxx

I know that there are hundreds and thousands of people over the years who have moved the needle forward for societal progress. Within social awareness, spiritual understanding, international acknowledgement of wrong versus right, and there has developed the basic acceptance of the situation and our responses.

Bill, you are frightening me with your sensible and level headed response. I am left to wonder, "What? No smart aleck response? Are you finally sober?" LOL.
Thanks for surprisingly great review comments.

Hi
These rhyming sestets tersely tell the stories of a few of the best known civil rights activists. They are good vignettes that match the photos.
Well done.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great weekend.

Excellent poem. Good rhyming and well thought out. Tells an important story of some of the people that rose above hate and spoke and sang about love. Thanks for sharing.

It's hard to imagine the foolish mistreatment and disadvantages bestowed upon people without reason. We just have to be glad that through all the difficulties, there were those with the intestinal fortitude to stand up and speak out. Thanks for sharing. Wish I had a six.

Thank you. Now you know that as pleasing as it is to receive a six, I have never chased a six star rating. What I do hope to receive is a positive reaction to what I wrote. Even a criticism that teaches me a valuable lesson is most welcome.

Your list consists of those who lead revolutions in their own way and in different countries. They believed in themselves ,believed in equality and could rise above their ordinary existence...very well done.

Nomi, what a beautiful poem in horror of such extraordinary heroes. Your favorites are mine too....
Mrs. Rosa Parks
Maya Angelou, one of my favorite poets. I met her in person at Pacific University in Stockton.
Nelson Mandela
Dr. Martin Luther King
Nina Simone, I love her singing and activate work
there are many more historical black people we should honor in school.
Well done.

-Very nice artwork and presentation, nomi.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-You did a very good job with the poem
with many good examples for each person as well as rhyme.
-My favorite images for each one are as follows:
*treatment caused some sparks.
*the timeless soul of Maya Angelou.
*the last line in the verse about Nelson Mandela.
*Every line for Dr. Martin Luther King shows his character;
he did so much, but paid with his life. He will always be remembered.
*For Nina Simone: "young, gifted, and black.
-I enjoyed this poem very much. Thanks for sharing it.

Hmm, this is well written, although some historical liberties are taken with some of these 'civil rights' pioneers, especially with Parks and Mandela, but this isn't the time or place for fact checking. Your poetic commentary is well crafted.

Thank you. I agree that no one knows all the pertinent facts and one has to trust to a degree the things the media presents as factual news.
