I wish I had a 6 star left this week! Extremely well-written story that had me involved from the beginning to the very end, guessing along the way as to what was going to happen. Very good luck in the Story of the Month contest.

Ahh, he forgot the chambered bullet. Excellent inside view of a narcissist/psychopath. Such delusions of grandeur. A true artiste! A gripper throughout with a splendid ending! Very well done.

It's always satisfying to see people like you (so far, just you and Wayne) that get the ending. Thank you very much, Julie.

You are welcome! You got my vote. Frankly, I'm really surprised it's not doing better in the voting. It is so obviously better written and more interesting than others placing above it.

Reviews like yours, especially since you truly understood the ending, mean more to me than any contest on this site ever could, Julie. Thank you dearly for this and the vote. Made my day.

Masterfully written, Bruce. It had all the elements of horror, especially the ending, which was extremely surprising. I sure never thought it would end that way. You had me engaged throughout.

Great job,
Rhonda

AS Shakespeare once said, "There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so." I think maybe it was Hamlet. Or maybe Hambone, who knows, it's just all about perspective. Thanks for sharing.

This is quite a story. It seems the narrator is killed in the end. Is that because he took the magazine from the prop gun but failed to switch the guns. This sounds like the untimate karma.

Hi Bruce, welcome back! I can see your writing has stayed sharp, as I remember. I thought you had a good set-up, excellent dialogue, interesting characters, and a good twist! Well done. Terry.

I re-read it. I get it now. He was so full of belief in himself he could not contemplate his own end. Grand writing, It sure made me think. Karen :-)

As the writer of this piece, I can only appreciate your opinion on the narrator's character, and that's what it's all about. As for the ending, I hope you'd give it another shot. Thanks for the review, Karen. Much appreciated.

Cool.
Excellent, error-free writing. Great work.
I was not happy with the character, feeling like quitting the piece. But the writing was good. I'm glad I held on. The ending justified the stay.
(Even if he'd managed to switch the magazines, did he not consider the round in the chamber?)
Best wishes.

Thank you so much, Wayne. You were the first one to get the bullet in the chamber. Can't express what a relief that was for me!

well, for Pete's sake, that was a hair raiser! I read it so fast, to see what was going to happen and voila! a surprise!
Very good writing, sir.
And the title, kept the message in suspense. Your character is/was a real psycho, however. You were really convincing. That's nightmare stuff.
Anyway, nice going!

Our society is getting fonder and fonder of trigger happy people .Dying/killing for art's sake would be accepted. the story is well written and gripping especially the ending...
