A hungry owl makes a friend

How the Owl Got a Meal

by Monica Chaddick

One day an owl landed on a tree
He was curious of what, on the limbs, he might see

The tree cleared its throat and asked what he needed
The owl jumped, frightened, and then he succeeded

He answered the tree and told him his plight
He was hungry, and although the tree gave him a fright

He couldn't fly on without some sort of meal
The tree couldn't move, but he could feel

He sent out a message to all of his friends
And the curious owl got a meal and a friend in the end
