Politicians are a lot like diapers: Change frequently

Yeah, Well, That's Just Politics

by Reese Turner

When I was in school, long, long ago,
They called political class “Civics”, so
I assumed that implied some civility…
Au contraire, it never seems civil to me.

Oh, the screaming, yelling and gnashing
Of teeth, vitriol and personal bashing
‘Tween we and they, left, right and other
Pols more polite would be my ruther!

“Thou shalt not steal”, forget about that!
Pols profit real big wherever they’re at!
Most are also lawyers, what could go wrong?
In prison, no parole, is where most belong!

They debate out front, but make backroom deals
The best pol is known for just how much he steals
It runs in the families, and that's a known fact;
Even their own crooked kids get into the act!

On the other hand, our way is still the best
Believe it or not, we beat all the rest!
I’ll always claim every right to complain
But, no doubt about it, here I shall remain.
