Making the Ultimate Sacrifice

Emotional Support Orange

by Mark Jackson

I have an Emotional Support Orange.

My neighbour has a dog,

A pedigree.

Small on the lap,

She cuddles it; at me!

angry

She talks to her dog.

I hear them through the wall,

Her talking; it listening.

My orange doesn’t listen,

Got no ears.

indecision

But I do know one day,

One hell of a day,

I’ll get home.

Take out my rum,

Ginger ale, highball,

And Emotional Support Orange.

wink

It’ll make the Ultimate Sacrifice,

Citrus Juice.

Dark and Stormy.

The Perfect Cocktail,

Could your dog do that for you?

Emotional support is an intentional verbal and nonverbal way to show care and affection for another. By providing emotional support to another person, you offer them reassurance, acceptance, encouragement, and caring, making them feel valued and important.
Although my poem is light-hearted; it is in no way meant to detract from the important role of emotional support.
Pays one point and 2 member cents (and maybe more).
