In so many ways this touches me even more than the more public "full-blown" annual memorials. To think that one thoughtful person struck a spark of inspiration that took hold and grew. To read your description of such a sincere, quiet yet meaningful tribute at a time when the world was in Covid Chaos is remarkable!

Thank you very much Karenina. To be honest this was just one of thousands around the country. I don't know who thought of it first but the idea spread like wild fire, via community Facebook pages probably, and it became a very special thing to do for all of us. Thank you for this lovely review.

How great! I did not recall any such thing here in my area during Covid Memorial day...

    I hope there were!

Now I know you people put more in to your celebration than we do on Memorial Day. This sounds very beautiful and moving and I can't imagine anyone here knitting all those broaches. We do have National ceremonies on Memorial day.

This was a lovely story about that special ANZAC morning driveway service, Wendy. I remember standing on my driveway with my candle, our flag at halfmast, listening to the buglers in surrounding streets. A special day.
Cheers

Yes, it was special, and there was such a lovely sense of unity, and I think everyone was very aware of the fragility of life during theat heightened time of Covid. Thank you so much for reviewing.

That is a great story, Wendy. When will the voices of the common people be heard? I am sure that the majority of the world's population would vote against war.

Yes, the majority definitely would vote against war. But the leaders would never do that - too much pride at stake. Thanks so much Paul, for the review.

This is a beautiful story of something good that occurred as a result of the pandemic. Neighbors all agreed to celebrate Anzac Day together and you were able to meet and greet new people from that point on.

Wow. What an incredible story and I am so glad you shared it with us all.

To commemorate the fallen soldiers and honor those in current service with your neighbors is outstanding. It also opened the lines of communication you may not have had prior.

It's a day to look forward to each year!

Fantastic story...

Thank you John. What a super review. And yes, the good thing is the greatly increasing numbers of young people who are interested and involved, even though the service is always very solemn and very respectful.

Wow! How cool! (interesting, unique, pleasantly surprising)
I'm afraid the most Americans only see Memorial Day as a day off work, although there are notable exceptions.
Best wishes.

Truly enjoyed this story very much. I think in today's world we are so apt to forget those people that went before us who paid the sacrifice with their own lives to say give us the freedom that we have this is a lovely story and I enjoyed listening to it very much, Patricia

What a beautiful thing to do! And how lovely of you to knit those poppies for your neighbors that added to the unifying event. I don't know that everyone here would even accept the poppy. So wonderful that even in that dark time of the pandemic all your neighbors were united in heart on Anzac day. Thanks for sharing this!

Thank you Helen for this lovely review. Yes it was a special and solemn morning, but afterwards we realised how nice it was to see and greet each other , even though at a distance, all down the street. Thanks again. Wendy
