Check the provenance. Everyone is related to, or knows someone or met someone famous. Most people don't want the piece because they are fans, but for resale value. I'm a fan of a lot of artist, but I don't want their stuff. They can have mine though.

Hi John, a fun story. I was wondering if the guy who bought the drum sticks had a drum to play them on??? This salesman was good, but not that good. He should have sold him a "famous" drum as well. Lol.

This reminds me of an interesting result one of my friends discovered when he was looking in a Sotheby's catalog. He recognized a guitar he had used when he was doing drama at his high school. To make it more a lifelike for the play he put Elvis Presley's signature on it.
He remembered the time the fellow came and bought it at a yard sale for probably$ 10 or and now it was worth hundreds and hundreds of dollars. He got in touch with Sotheby's and notified them of the misnomer.
