Have I become one?

Proverbial Cat Lady

A scraggly kitty shows at the door.
With loud mewings it does implore 
it's hungry and wants something to eat 
so that hunger it may cheat.
 
Unable to refuse this request 
I welcome in the little guest.
I pour more food into the bowl 
to satisfy this precious soul.
 
Soon after this there arrived yet more.
Since then have found myself cat poor,
and perhaps that I might even be 
a proverbial cat lady.
