Winters First Kiss

by The Duchess of Drumborg

Stars glisten in the dark blue velvet sky over the towering mountain.

Early morning mist rises from the grass as the sun begins to slowly glow.

Autumn leaves dance in the breeze then fall like a graceful fountain.

Haze hovers over the crescent moon.  Over weathered rocks streams flow.

Snow clouds cover the hills and icy fingers touch the late evening air.

The ground is cold and will soon be bare. The last petals are now falling.

Tree branches raise their skeletal limbs towards the sky. Soon all will be bare.

I the distance I hear an owl hoot.  Bliss is to hear a dove’s mate gently calling.

Soothes my battered bones.
